Salasar Techno Engineering Limited has completed the electrification of the 210-RKM Udaipur–Himmatnagar railway corridor, covering the section from Udaipur City to Himmatnagar. The ₹170.17 crore project was awarded by RITES Limited on behalf of the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, North Western Railway, Jaipur.
The project covers a 234.99 TKM route connecting Rajasthan and Gujarat and has now been dedicated to the nation. The completion marks another milestone in India’s railway electrification programme and supports the movement towards cleaner and more efficient rail transportation.
Salasar executed the project as an end-to-end EPC assignment. The scope included installation of 25 kV overhead equipment (OHE), general electrification of traction sub-stations, civil engineering works, track works, and signalling and telecommunication systems.
Major installations under the project included Traction Sub-Stations at Dungarpur and Vantada. The company also completed work at nine Sectioning and Sub-Sectioning Post stations located at Zawar, Jai Samand, Semari, Rikhab Dev, Bechhiwara, Lusadiya, Shamlaji, Raigadh and Himmatnagar.
The execution involved erection of structures, installation of transformers and electrical equipment, SCADA integration, earthing, cabling, signalling and telecommunications. Work was carried out across multiple locations while maintaining the required technical and safety standards.
The corridor was completed in three phases. Each phase underwent independent verification by the Commissioner of Railway Safety or inspection by RITES before being cleared. This process helped ensure that the completed infrastructure met the required railway safety and performance standards.
The electrification of the corridor is expected to support faster and cleaner train operations between Rajasthan and Gujarat. It will also strengthen rail connectivity across an important regional route and contribute to India’s efforts to develop more sustainable transport infrastructure.
Shashank Agarwal, Managing Director, Salasar Techno Engineering Limited, said the completion demonstrated the company’s ability to execute complex railway infrastructure projects involving multiple technical disciplines. He said the integrated EPC model covering OHE, traction sub-stations, civil, track, signalling and telecommunications had strengthened Salasar’s position in the railway electrification sector. The project adds to Salasar’s portfolio of railway infrastructure assignments and reinforces its role in India’s expanding railway electrification programme.
