Royal Enfield, the global leader in the mid-size motorcycle segment, has announced plans to acquire land for a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Tada near Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, as part of its long-term growth strategy. The company plans to invest approximately ₹2,500 crore in the proposed expansion project, which will be implemented in phases subject to approval by the company’s board and aligned with future market demand.
The proposed facility is expected to strengthen Royal Enfield’s manufacturing footprint in southern India while supporting rising domestic and international demand for its motorcycles. The company currently operates with an annual production capacity of nearly 14.6 lakh motorcycles, which is approaching full utilisation.
Earlier this year, Royal Enfield had announced an investment of ₹958 crore toward expanding production capacity at its Cheyyar facility in Tamil Nadu. Once completed, the expansion is expected to increase the company’s total annual manufacturing capacity to nearly 20 lakh units.
Speaking on the planned expansion, B Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors Limited and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield, said the company’s philosophy has always centred on staying closely connected with its riding community while delivering world-class products and experiences. He added that the Andhra Pradesh investment will support Royal Enfield’s next phase of growth and further strengthen its manufacturing capabilities.
Mr Govindarajan also acknowledged the support extended by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and highlighted the company’s growing presence in the state through more than 100 retail and service touchpoints, along with over 1,200 direct and indirect employment opportunities already created in the region.
Royal Enfield currently operates four manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu and maintains seven CKD assembly units across global markets including Bangladesh, Nepal, Brazil, Thailand, Argentina and Colombia. The company also runs two major technical centres located in Chennai and Bruntingthorpe in the United Kingdom.
The motorcycle maker has continued to strengthen its position in both domestic and international markets. In FY2026, Royal Enfield crossed sales of 1.2 million motorcycles globally, marking its second consecutive year of exceeding the one-million-unit milestone. The company also secured top rankings in customer and dealer satisfaction studies, including the J.D. Power India Two-Wheeler Initial Quality Study and the FADA Dealer Satisfaction Survey.
Royal Enfield’s expanding portfolio spans modern classics, adventure tourers, cruisers and performance roadsters, including the Himalayan 450, Guerrilla 450, Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650 and the recently introduced Bear 650 and Classic 650 models. The company has also entered the electric mobility space with the introduction of its new urban electric brand, Flying Flea.
