Royal Canin inaugurates new plant with Rs 100 Crore Investment in Maharashtra

Royal Canin, the French pet food manufacturer, has inaugurated Asia’s second-largest fully operational packaging plant in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, representing a significant investment of ₹100 crore. This state-of-the-art packaging center, marking Royal Canin’s maiden venture in India, is equipped with automatic packing machines and essential utilities to convert bulk products into retail packs tailored to meet the requirements of Indian pet owners. While focusing on serving the domestic market, the company also hinted at the potential for future exports from the facility.

Cecile Coutens, Global President of Royal Canin, emphasized the importance of India as one of the fastest-growing pet care markets globally, with a notable compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 15%. She underscored the evolving preferences of pet owners, who increasingly prioritize the health and well-being of their pets, driving the demand for high-quality nutrition and care products.

The Indian pet care industry, valued at $700 million, is witnessing robust growth at a rate of 15% annually, making it a strategically significant market for Royal Canin. The establishment of the packaging center in Maharashtra is the culmination of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked between Royal Canin and the Government of Maharashtra in April 2023, reflecting the brand’s commitment to fostering partnerships for growth and development.

With a presence in over 120 countries, Royal Canin operates 16 factories, 2 pet centers, 1 research and development center, and 7 laboratories worldwide. The launch of the packaging center in India marks the brand’s 17th facility in its manufacturing network, aimed at enhancing its supply chain capabilities and furthering its commitment to serving pet owners and their beloved companions across the country.
