Royal Canin has increased forklift loading rates by 50 percent following the implementation of advanced scanning and mobility solutions from Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA). The deployment of FS40 fixed industrial scanners and ET60 rugged tablets has streamlined pallet tracking while significantly enhancing workplace safety at the company’s Cambrai warehouse.
Operating 24 hours a day, the Cambrai facility ships approximately 1,800 pallets of pet food daily to markets around the world. Previously, pallet scanning required pedestrian workers to manually move between loads and scanning stations, creating safety risks and slowing throughput.
Seeking a safer and more efficient approach, Royal Canin partnered with WIIO, a Zebra Premier Solution and Industrial Automation Partner. Within three days, WIIO installed Zebra’s fixed scanning systems and rugged tablets across the site without interrupting production.
The integrated solution automates pallet identification prior to trailer loading, removing the need for pedestrian interaction and delivering hands-free traceability. Fully synchronized with Royal Canin’s existing warehouse management system, the technology ensures accurate data capture and real-time visibility throughout the shipping process.
Company leaders report that the upgrade has transformed logistics performance at the facility. In addition to accelerating forklift loading operations, the system has reduced on-floor traffic and improved operator safety.
Zebra Technologies noted that the project delivered a positive return on investment within three months. The collaboration between Zebra and WIIO enabled rapid deployment and seamless system integration tailored to Royal Canin’s operational requirements. Following the success at Cambrai, Royal Canin is now evaluating similar implementations at additional production sites with the goal of standardizing automation-driven efficiencies across its network.
