Panasonic Smart Factory Solutions India (PSFSIN), a business unit under Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND), presented its latest lineup of automation technologies and intelligent manufacturing systems at Productronica India 2025. The showcase centered around the theme “Autonomous Factory – Skill-less Operation,” with a strong emphasis on reducing manual intervention and enhancing efficiency on the production floor.

The exhibit featured Panasonic’s latest Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment — including the NPM-GP/L printer, NPM-GH, and NPM-TT2 modular placement systems — alongside software platforms such as PanaCIM and the MirAIe ProFactory. The solutions aim to help manufacturers cut operational costs, reduce reliance on skilled labor, and improve output consistency through automation and real-time data capabilities.

The exhibit was officially launched in the presence of senior Panasonic leaders, including Tadashi Chiba, MD & CEO of PLSIND; Takahashi Ryotaro, MD of CPBD and Associate VP of Panasonic Connect; Osamu Shimada, Deputy Managing Director of PSFSIN; and Vishal Dahiya, Director of Factory Automation Systems at PSFSIN.

Tadashi Chiba, in his remarks, noted the role India is playing in the global manufacturing landscape. “With government initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and PLI schemes, India is becoming an attractive destination for global manufacturers. Our solutions are designed to support this growth by delivering automation and cost-efficiency tailored to local needs across sectors such as automotive, telecom, consumer electronics, and industrial equipment,” he said.

Takahashi Ryotaro emphasized Panasonic’s global strategy of enabling autonomous production. “Our goal is to bring advanced, software-driven manufacturing solutions to Indian companies. By minimizing the need for highly skilled manual labor, we’re helping local manufacturers transition to smarter, more agile production environments,” he said.

Osamu Shimada highlighted the positive market response to their new SMT offerings. “Products like the NPM-GH and NPM-GP/L have been well-received for their precision and reliability. Features like the ASF Feeders and dual-lane architecture offer clear advantages in speed and operational uptime, leading to faster returns on investment,” he added.

Vishal Dahiya explained the broader vision behind the Smart Factory platform. “This year, our focus is on showing how integrated hardware and software can create a truly autonomous manufacturing setup. Our portfolio — including high-speed SMT machines and platforms like PanaCIM and MirAIe ProFactory — helps manufacturers achieve greater consistency, faster line changeovers, and data-driven performance enhancements,” he said.

One of the highlights of the lineup was the NPM-GP/L printer, which combines high-speed performance with remarkable precision. Equipped with advanced mask alignment technology, it achieves exceptional printing accuracy while maintaining a rapid 12-second cycle time. This balance of speed and precision makes it well-suited for demanding production environments that require both efficiency and consistency.

Also featured was the NPM-GH mounter, a powerhouse designed for high-volume manufacturing. Delivering an impressive 55,500 components per hour with an accuracy of ±25 μm, it supports dual-lane operation to further maximize throughput. Its capabilities make it a strong fit for large-scale production lines where speed and accuracy are equally critical.

For manufacturers handling a wider variety of products, the NPM-TT2 platform stood out as an ideal solution. With a placement capacity of 18,000 components per hour, this system offers dual-lane flexibility and incorporates advanced vision systems to ensure precise placement. Its design caters specifically to high-mix production needs, allowing manufacturers to adapt quickly to diverse and changing requirements.

Complementing the hardware, Panasonic also showcased its Software & Lifecycle Services, which play a crucial role in enhancing overall manufacturing efficiency. The PanaCIM suite provides features such as full traceability and automatic changeovers, while MirAIe ProFactory introduces IoT-driven predictive maintenance and real-time shop floor insights. Together, these solutions empower manufacturers to achieve smarter, more connected, and more reliable operations.
