RX India has announced the conference agenda for the 20th edition of PackPlus 2026, India’s major exhibition for the packaging, converting and supply chain industries. The event will be held from August 20 to 22 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The PackPlus 2026 Conference will focus on the theme ‘Packaging as the Engine of Growth for the Indian Economy’. The conference will bring together policymakers, packaging companies, technology providers and industry experts to discuss standards, flexible packaging, sustainability and the growing use of artificial intelligence in packaging.

India’s packaging industry is currently the fifth-largest sector of the economy. Valued at about US$101.12 billion in 2025, the sector is projected to reach US$169.73 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 10.73%. The industry supports several major sectors, including agriculture, retail, FMCG, pharmaceuticals and logistics.

The conference will open with an inauguration and lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a welcome address from RX India. The first panel, ‘Packaging Standards – Compliance Goes from Obligation to Differentiator’, will examine Bureau of Indian Standards requirements, standardisation, global competitiveness, foreign investment and the use of recycled materials in paper and pulp packaging.

The second session, ‘Pushing the Physical Barriers of Packaging – Flexible Packaging is the Future’, will examine developments in India’s flexible packaging market. Speakers will discuss material innovation, artificial intelligence, smart packaging and ways to reduce material use without compromising product safety, protection and print quality.

A post-lunch session titled ‘Thinking Beyond the Bin – Can Sustainable Packaging Replace Plastics?’ will focus on sustainable packaging practices. Discussions will cover green packaging, greenwashing, returnable packaging, minimalistic designs, reuse models driven by quick commerce and efforts to reduce dependence on single-use plastics.

The conference will conclude with ‘AI-Powered Smart Packaging – The Future of Intelligent Packaging’. The session will explore applications such as RFID and QR-based traceability, product authentication, automated defect detection, shelf-life prediction, personalised customer engagement and process optimisation.

Umang Gupta, Country Head, RX India, said the packaging sector is becoming increasingly important across consumer and industrial markets. He added that changing regulations and advances in packaging technology are reshaping the industry and that PackPlus provides a platform for policymakers, businesses and innovators to discuss these developments.
