More than 500 industry professionals attended Yamazaki Mazak’s November Open House, where the company showcased strong advances in UK-manufactured machine tools, automation systems, and digitally enabled service technologies. The three-day event, held from 18–20 November at Mazak’s European Manufacturing Plant and Technology Centre in Worcester, highlighted how the latest machining innovations can help British manufacturers optimise workflows, raise productivity, and strengthen long-term competitiveness.
Guests experienced over 19 live demonstrations covering multi-tasking machines, 5-axis systems, turning centres, vertical machining technologies, laser processing solutions, and automation platforms. Attendees also explored Mazak’s integrated approaches to improving output, reducing cycle times, and advancing digital connectivity through the newest MAZATROL CNC developments.
As the UK’s only machine tool maker that designs and builds new products domestically, Mazak drew significant attention to the equipment produced in Worcester. Alongside established QUICK TURN lathes and VCN/VTC vertical machining centres, visitors were especially interested in two newly introduced UK-built series: the INTEGREX j-200 NEO and the updated CV5 line.
With INTEGREX j-200 NEO production now underway, the new series—along with investments in automated laser cutting within Mazak’s Sheet Metal Department—became a highlight of the factory tours led by Mazak apprentices. Technology Tours at the European Technology Centre offered a closer look at automated gear production, accessible 5-axis solutions, multi-tasking capabilities, and upgrades in digital integration via Mazak iCONNECT and the MAZATROL DX platform.
The event also featured networking with leading technology partners and a charity activity where attendees tested their skills on Formula 1 racing simulators. The fastest lap was recorded at 1 minute 29.37 seconds, contributing to over £800 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Alan Mucklow, Managing Director UK & National Distributors at Yamazaki Mazak, noted the strong momentum “There is clear confidence in the market and a willingness to invest in technologies that enhance productivity. The enthusiasm for our expanding portfolio of UK-built machines reinforces our strategy to strengthen manufacturing capabilities in Worcester and better serve European customers. We look forward to building on this success together.”
