Ola Electric today announced the start of deliveries for its S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh) scooter, the company’s first product to feature the indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack. This milestone marks a major step forward in India’s journey toward self-reliance in advanced battery technology and electric mobility.

The 4680 Bharat Cell, designed and manufactured entirely by Ola Electric, delivers higher range, improved performance, and enhanced safety. With this innovation, Ola Electric becomes India’s first EV manufacturer to design, produce, and integrate battery cells and packs entirely in-house, reinforcing its position as a vertically integrated energy and mobility company.

Commenting on the announcement, an Ola Electric spokesperson said “The commencement of deliveries for vehicles powered by the 4680 Bharat Cell marks a historic moment for India’s EV industry. This achievement goes beyond a technological milestone — it represents India’s progress towards true energy independence. Our in-house cell technology enables us to design and build electric vehicles that offer superior range, performance, and safety — all made in India, for the world. The 4680 Bharat Cell stands as a testament to India’s growing leadership in global EV innovation.”

The 4680 Bharat Cell has recently received ARAI certification under the latest AIS-156 Amendment 4 safety standards, issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), for its 5.2 kWh configuration. The S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh) is powered by a 13 kW motor and delivers an impressive acceleration of 0–40 km/h in just 2.1 seconds, along with a 320 km IDC range (in DIY mode). The scooter features four riding modes—Hyper, Sport, Normal, and Eco—and offers advanced safety features such as dual-channel ABS and front and rear disc brakes.

Enhancements in comfort and design include a two-tone seat with high-support foam, body-coloured mirrors, a die-cast aluminium grab handle, rim decals, and an expanded colour palette featuring Passion Red, Porcelain White, Industrial Silver, Jet Black, Stellar Blue, and Midnight Blue.
