NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd., a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd., has successfully secured a 300 MW solar power project in an e-reverse auction held by NHPC Ltd. The project is part of a 1200 MW tender and includes an integrated 150 MW solar capacity along with a 300 MWh energy storage system. NTPC Renewable Energy has won the bid with a tariff of ₹3.09 per kWh, and is now awaiting the Letter of Award (LoA) from NHPC Ltd.
This tender was for the selection of solar power developers to set up 1200 MW of ISTS-connected solar power projects across India, along with a 600 MW/1200 MWh energy storage system, under a tariff-based competitive bidding process. Earlier this year, NTPC Renewable Energy also won a bid in the e-reverse auction conducted by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL) for a 2000 MW solar project.
On January 3, 2025, NTPC REL secured a 1000 MW capacity at a tariff of ₹2.56 per kWh in a similar competitive bidding process by UPPCL. The Letter of Award for that project is also awaited.
