Norican, a global leader in metal formation, surface treatment and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies for the foundry industry, has strengthened its manufacturing presence in India with the commencement of commercial production at its new greenfield facility in Tumkur, Karnataka. The state-of-the-art plant began operations on June 1, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy in India.

Located adjacent to Norican India’s existing manufacturing unit, the new facility has been established to meet rising domestic and global demand while enhancing production capacity and operational efficiency. The expansion reinforces India’s growing importance within Norican’s worldwide manufacturing network and reflects the company’s confidence in the country’s manufacturing ecosystem.

The project was completed in a record 12 months, demonstrating strong project execution and collaboration across Norican’s India operations. The facility is expected to improve manufacturing agility, shorten delivery timelines and strengthen the company’s ability to serve customers across key international markets.

In its first phase of operations, the plant will manufacture DISA moulding machines, Automatic Mould Handling (AMH) systems and SIMPSON products, supporting the needs of foundries and industrial customers worldwide. The facility has also been designed with sufficient flexibility to accommodate future product lines and capacity expansion as market demand grows.

The investment represents more than a capacity addition. It enhances Norican India’s manufacturing capabilities by integrating modern production processes that improve quality, productivity and responsiveness. The expanded facility will enable the company to deliver advanced engineering solutions while strengthening its competitiveness across global markets.

India has emerged as one of Norican’s fastest-growing markets over the past eight years, supported by increasing industrialisation, infrastructure development and demand from the foundry and manufacturing sectors. The new investment positions the company to capitalise on these opportunities while contributing to the growth of India’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

The Tumkur facility will also play an important role in supporting Norican’s global supply chain by serving as a strategic production hub for customers across multiple regions. The expansion aligns with the company’s long-term strategy of developing world-class manufacturing capabilities closer to key growth markets.

Headquartered in Denmark, Norican operates manufacturing facilities and business operations across five continents, providing equipment, technologies and aftermarket services for foundries and major industrial sectors. The company is recognised globally for its engineering expertise, product innovation and customer-focused solutions.

With the commissioning of the new Tumkur facility, Norican further strengthens its manufacturing footprint in India while reinforcing its commitment to innovation, operational excellence and sustainable industrial growth. The investment is expected to support future business expansion and enhance the company’s ability to meet evolving customer requirements across domestic and international markets.
