Nippon Paint reinforced its commitment to supporting Africa’s industrial growth and infrastructure development by showcasing its latest coil coating technologies at the Coil Coating & Sandwich Panel Conference 2026 held at the Mövenpick Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. The conference brought together manufacturers, steel producers, coating experts, technology providers, and industry stakeholders to discuss market trends, technological advancements, and future opportunities within the coil coating and sandwich panel sectors. Representing Nippon Paint, Subash Gaijes Selvaraj, President – Industrial Coatings, highlighted the critical role of advanced coating solutions in enhancing the durability, performance, and sustainability of modern infrastructure projects across Africa.

Addressing delegates at the event, Mr Gaijes outlined the changing requirements of the region’s construction, manufacturing, and industrial sectors. He noted that increasing urbanisation, large-scale infrastructure investments, and industrial expansion are creating demand for high-performance coating solutions capable of withstanding challenging environmental conditions.

According to him, coating systems used across Africa must deliver superior protection against intense ultraviolet exposure, extreme weather conditions, corrosion in coastal regions, and wear caused by industrial environments. He emphasised that customers are increasingly seeking solutions that balance long-term performance with cost efficiency while also meeting emerging sustainability and environmental standards.

“The infrastructure and industrial sectors are evolving rapidly across many emerging markets. This creates a growing need for coating technologies that offer durability, reliability, and environmental responsibility. Customers today expect solutions that not only protect assets but also improve lifecycle performance and support sustainable development goals,” said Mr Gaijes.

During the conference, Nippon Paint also shared its ongoing focus on research and technology development. The company is investing in advanced coating systems for new-generation substrates and developing value-added technologies designed to improve product functionality, longevity, and application flexibility.

As part of its long-term strategy for Africa, Nippon Paint has continued to strengthen its regional footprint through its operations in Kenya. The company’s presence in East Africa serves as a key platform for expanding its reach across the continent and supporting customers with specialised industrial coating solutions.

To meet increasing regional demand, Nippon Paint has established a dedicated coil coating manufacturing facility in Mombasa, Kenya. The facility supports steel processors, manufacturers, and industrial customers with locally available coating products tailored to regional requirements.

Supported by an extensive supply network across Africa, the company delivers advanced coating solutions backed by technical expertise, reliable service, and faster market access. By combining Japanese technology with local manufacturing capabilities, Nippon Paint aims to contribute to the development of stronger, more resilient, and sustainable industrial infrastructure across the continent.
