Nikon India has joined hands with the Youth India Programme as an official equipment partner, aiming to help students develop practical skills in visual media. The initiative is led by Arya Chitra, General Manager of the Youth Global Program, and focuses on equipping young learners with hands-on experience in photography, videography, and media production.

The programme plans to reach students across 20 schools and colleges within the current financial year. It introduces structured learning modules that cover storytelling, filmmaking, digital media use, and visual communication. Students will also have access to Nikon-led workshops, guided field visits, and curated projects designed to enhance both technical and creative abilities.

The programme is designed to provide students with comprehensive training in creative media skills. It includes sessions on photography, filmmaking, media ethics, and storytelling, allowing participants to build a strong foundation in visual communication. Students also gain hands-on experience through workshops and real-world assignments led by Nikon experts, ensuring practical exposure and applied learning.

To support continuous development, the programme sets up dedicated media labs in schools, equipped with Nikon mirrorless cameras, professional gear, and mentorship support. Additionally, it introduces students to potential career paths in journalism, digital content creation, communications, and other creative industries, helping them make informed decisions about their future.

“Our goal is to contribute to early skill-building that helps students prepare for the future,” said Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director of Nikon India. “By supporting this initiative, we aim to encourage creativity and practical learning that extends beyond the classroom.” The programme rollout has started in collaboration with institutions under the Global Schools Group, beginning with the Global Indian International School (GIIS) network.

“This is not just about learning photography—it’s about giving students the tools to express themselves and understand the power of media,” said Arya Chitra, General Manager of the Youth Global Program. “We’re helping young people find their voice and use it with purpose.”
