Neogenyx Fuels has completed its first delivery of International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC)-certified renewable natural gas (RNG) into European compliance markets, marking a significant milestone in the company’s international market expansion strategy. The transaction utilized renewable natural gas produced at one of Neogenyx Fuels’ operating facilities and was enabled through ISCC certifications that became effective in January 2026. The certified gas volumes were tracked and verified under the ISCC mass-balance chain-of-custody framework, which provides transparency and traceability while meeting European Union sustainability requirements.
The delivery represents an important step for the company as demand for verified low-carbon fuels continues to grow across international markets. By securing ISCC certification, Neogenyx Fuels has gained access to compliance-driven markets that require rigorous environmental reporting, carbon accounting, and supply-chain verification.
Michael Bakas, Chief Executive Officer of Neogenyx Fuels, said the transaction demonstrates the company’s ability to connect renewable fuel production in the United States with emerging opportunities overseas. He added that biofuels are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting economic activity, investment, and job creation in rural communities while contributing to global decarbonization efforts.
Neogenyx Fuels’ portfolio of ISCC-certified projects currently has the capacity to produce more than 4.2 million MMBtu of renewable natural gas annually. The company indicated that additional facilities are expected to pursue certification as international demand for verified renewable fuels continues to expand.
Tim Oudman, Senior Vice President of Sustainability Innovation at Republic Services, said the companies are continuing to expand their renewable natural gas portfolio, creating new pathways to supply low-carbon energy solutions to customers in global markets.
The transaction was supported by US Energy, a US Venture company, acting as an ISCC-certified trader. Through the collaboration, Neogenyx Fuels and US Energy established a verified commercial pathway linking certified RNG production in the United States with buyers in Europe seeking sustainable fuel alternatives.
According to Allison Gladstone, Director of Business Development at US Energy, certification provides greater flexibility in connecting renewable natural gas supply with evolving international demand while supporting broader adoption of lower-carbon energy sources.
Neogenyx Fuels was formed through the combined expertise of Ameresco and HASI and focuses on developing, owning, and operating advanced fuel infrastructure. The successful completion of this transaction demonstrates the company’s ability to convert sustainability certifications into commercial market opportunities while expanding the reach of renewable natural gas beyond domestic mark
