MTAR Technologies has secured orders worth ₹126.7 crore from the civil nuclear power sector for the supply of coolant channel assemblies required for the refurbishment of the RAPS-4 and MAPS-2 nuclear reactors. The latest orders strengthen MTAR’s position in India’s nuclear equipment supply chain and add to its growing order book in the civil nuclear segment. The company has been supplying specialised components for critical applications and continues to expand its presence in the sector.

The orders cover coolant channel assemblies for refurbishment activities at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS-4) and Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS-2). These components form part of the reactor systems and are required as nuclear power plants undergo refurbishment and life-extension programmes.

Commenting on the development,. Parvat Srinivas Reddy, Managing Director of MTAR, said the company had secured several significant orders from the civil nuclear sector in recent months. “Our closing nuclear order book now stands at more than ₹775 crore, the highest in the company’s history. The sector’s long-term outlook remains promising, and we expect a steady inflow of orders over the coming years,” he said.

The latest contract adds to MTAR’s growing portfolio of nuclear-sector business at a time when India is expanding its nuclear power programme and focusing on increasing domestic capabilities for critical equipment and components.Refurbishment of existing nuclear reactors is an important part of maintaining generating capacity, improving plant performance and extending the operating life of nuclear facilities. Demand for specialised components is expected to remain supported by ongoing refurbishment and maintenance programmes.

MTAR has developed capabilities in precision engineering and manufacturing for demanding sectors, including nuclear, clean energy, space, defence and other advanced engineering applications. The company’s participation in the nuclear sector involves the production of high-precision components requiring stringent manufacturing and quality standards.

The increase in MTAR’s nuclear order book also provides greater visibility for its business in the segment. With the company reporting more than ₹775 crore in closing nuclear orders, the latest award further strengthens its position in the domestic civil nuclear supply chain. The company expects continued opportunities as India invests in nuclear power generation and strengthens its domestic manufacturing ecosystem.

MTAR’s expanding nuclear business reflects the growing role of Indian engineering companies in supplying specialised components for critical infrastructure. The company intends to continue developing its manufacturing capabilities and pursuing opportunities in the nuclear sector.

The latest orders also reinforce MTAR’s strategy of building a diversified order book across sectors where precision manufacturing and advanced engineering capabilities are essential. The company said it expects the civil nuclear sector to remain an important growth area over the coming years, supported by refurbishment programmes as well as the broader expansion of nuclear power capacity in India.

MTAR specializes in manufacturing high-precision assemblies, including liquid propulsion engines, cryogenic turbo pumps, combustors, and ball screws, all of which are essential for advanced missile systems, launch vehicles, and nuclear reactors. The company has been instrumental in supporting major ISRO missions, such as the Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) and Chandrayaan-2, by supplying critical components like the GSLV Mk-III engine. In recognition of its contributions, MTAR received the National Level Champion Award from the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers in 2021 for its work on indigenizing ball screws used in defence and space applications .

With seven manufacturing units, including an export-oriented facility in Hyderabad, MTAR continues to expand its capabilities. In December 2022, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) to develop a two-stage, all-liquid small satellite launch vehicle with a payload capacity of 500 kilograms . MTAR’s commitment to innovation and self-reliance aligns with India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative, positioning the company as a cornerstone in the nation’s strategic sectors.
