Motherson Secures Government Incentives Under India’s ECMS

Motherson Electronic Components Private Limited (MECPL), a subsidiary of Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (SAMIL), has received approval under the Government of India’s Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). The scheme, introduced by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), supports domestic production of electronic components, including enclosures for the consumer electronics sector.

The incentives will apply for six years, from FY26 to FY31, and are expected to support a total investment of approximately ₹1,900 crore. MECPL plans to create more than 5,000 jobs at its Kanchipuram facility in Tamil Nadu during this period. The initiative supports India’s “Make in India” program and strengthens local manufacturing capabilities.
