Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched two community healthcare initiatives in Haryana focused on improving menstrual hygiene awareness and reducing anaemia among vulnerable populations. The programmes will be implemented in rural and semi-urban communities across the districts of Gurugram, Rohtak, and Sonipat.

The initiatives align with the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). The programmes aim to improve health awareness and promote sustainable behavioural changes among adolescents, women, and mothers.

One of the initiatives focuses on menstrual hygiene awareness among school students. The year-long programme has begun in two government schools in Rohtak and Kharkhoda and is scheduled to expand to eight schools in Manesar. The initiative is expected to reach more than 4,500 students from classes 6 to 12.

The programme includes educational sessions designed to address misconceptions about menstrual health and encourage the adoption of hygienic practices. Parents, teachers, and community members will also be involved in awareness activities to create a supportive environment for students.

In addition, the company has introduced an anaemia reduction programme across 10 villages in Gurugram, Rohtak, and Sonipat. The initiative builds on previous health interventions conducted in Haryana and is designed to support communities through screening programmes, nutrition awareness campaigns, and follow-up health assessments.

The programme is aligned with the Government of India’s Anemia Mukt Bharat Mission, implemented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The initiative is expected to reach around 16,500 beneficiaries, particularly children, pregnant women, postpartum mothers, and adolescent girls who are most affected by anaemia.

Rahul Bharti said the company’s community initiatives aim to support development in areas surrounding its operations. He noted that the menstrual hygiene awareness and anaemia reduction programmes together are expected to benefit more than 21,000 individuals.

These initiatives form part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy, which focuses on road safety, skill development, and community development. Through these programmes, the company aims to contribute to improved health outcomes and long-term social development in the communities where it operates.
