Lupin Limited has launched Formoflo-G MDI in India following approval from the Drug Controller General of India. The company describes the product as the world’s first fixed-dose triple-combination metered-dose inhaler for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Formoflo-G MDI combines three medicines—Glycopyrronium Bromide, Formoterol Fumarate and Fluticasone Propionate—in a single inhaler for the long-term management and treatment of moderate to severe COPD. The product is available in a single strength and is intended for twice-daily use in appropriate patients.

COPD is a chronic respiratory condition that can cause persistent breathing difficulties and reduced lung function. Lupin cited an estimate of more than 55 million people living with COPD in India, highlighting the demand for treatment options that help manage the condition.

The company said the new inhaler brings together three established therapies in one device, adding another option for healthcare professionals treating eligible patients. The launch also expands Lupin’s respiratory medicine portfolio in India. Nilesh Gupta, Managing Director of Lupin, said access to effective treatment remained important as respiratory diseases affected millions of people across the country. He said Formoflo-G MDI was part of the company’s efforts to address patient needs through differentiated medicines and improve treatment outcomes.

Rajeev Sibal, President – India Region Formulations at Lupin, said the inhaler strengthened the company’s respiratory portfolio by combining three therapies in a single product. He added that it provided healthcare professionals with another treatment option for appropriate patients with COPD.

According to IQVIA data for the 12 months ended March 2026, Lupin ranked second in India’s respiratory therapy segment. The company said the launch supports its continued focus on respiratory care and the development of treatments for conditions with substantial patient needs.

Headquartered in Mumbai, Lupin is a global pharmaceutical company with products distributed in more than 100 markets. Its portfolio includes generic medicines, complex generics, specialty medicines and biosimilars. The company has a presence in India, the United States, other developed markets and emerging markets.

Lupin’s therapeutic areas include cardiovascular health, respiratory diseases, diabetes, gastrointestinal conditions and women’s health. It operates 15 manufacturing facilities and six research centres, supported by a workforce of more than 26,000 employees. The company also works across diagnostics, digital health, patient-support programmes and disease management initiatives. Sustainability forms part of its business strategy. With the launch of Formoflo-G MDI, Lupin aims to expand its range of respiratory treatments and provide another fixed-dose combination option for the long-term management of COPD in India.
