LTM, the AI-driven technology services company and a Larsen & Toubro Group enterprise, has joined Athena, a global industry coalition led by Chainguard that is focused on strengthening the security of open source software against emerging AI-powered cyber threats. The initiative brings together leading technology companies, cybersecurity specialists and software ecosystem partners to address the growing challenge of vulnerabilities being identified and exploited at unprecedented speed through advanced artificial intelligence. As AI capabilities continue to evolve, security researchers and malicious actors alike can discover software flaws much faster than traditional vulnerability disclosure and remediation processes can respond.

Athena has been established to improve collaboration across the software ecosystem by enabling coordinated vulnerability management before security flaws become publicly known. The coalition supports the complete security lifecycle, including vulnerability discovery, technical analysis, coordinated patch development, layered mitigation strategies and upstream code improvements that benefit the wider open source community.

By promoting collective action and information sharing, the initiative seeks to improve the resilience of open source projects that serve as the foundation of modern digital infrastructure across enterprises, governments and technology providers worldwide.LTM’s participation reflects its continued focus on strengthening cybersecurity capabilities and enhancing software supply chain resilience for enterprise customers across industries. Leveraging its engineering expertise and global technology delivery capabilities, the company will contribute to collaborative remediation efforts designed to accelerate vulnerability resolution and improve software security across the open source ecosystem.

Commenting on the development, Chandan Pani, Chief Information Security Officer at LTM, said the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence has fundamentally changed both software development and cybersecurity. He noted that protecting the open source technologies powering today’s digital economy requires industry-wide collaboration, adding that the company looks forward to working alongside global partners to strengthen trust, resilience and security across the software ecosystem.

Naveen Sharma, Global Vice President, Partnerships at Chainguard, said no single organisation can solve challenges that affect the entire open source ecosystem. He noted that LTM’s global engineering scale and execution capabilities will strengthen Athena’s ability to respond rapidly to AI-driven threats while ensuring security improvements reach the enterprises, developers and critical infrastructure that rely on open source software every day.

Through its participation in Athena, LTM will support coordinated efforts to identify, remediate and contribute security fixes back to upstream open source projects, enabling broader adoption of secure software across industries. As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the cybersecurity landscape, collaborations such as Athena are expected to play an increasingly important role in protecting the software supply chains that underpin the global digital economy. LTM’s participation reinforces its commitment to advancing secure digital transformation while supporting industry-wide efforts to build a safer and more resilient open source ecosystem.

With more than 87,000 employees across 40 countries, LTM combines technology expertise, industry knowledge, and AI-driven innovation to help organizations transform operations, enhance productivity, and create sustainable business value in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
