Kineco Exel Composites India (KECI), the joint venture between Exel Composites and Kineco Group, has achieved full production capacity at its new manufacturing site in Banda. The facility, focused on supplying the wind energy sector, is now running dedicated lines for carbon fiber components used in turbine blade construction.
Developed jointly by Exel and Kineco, the plant was completed in 2024 and underwent an extended commissioning and testing phase through 2025. It is now fully operational and has begun shipping carbon fiber flats to major wind turbine manufacturers. Initial customer qualifications have been secured, and volume deliveries are underway.
The carbon fiber flats produced at the site are structural elements used in turbine blades—particularly in areas like spar caps—to support higher loads as blade designs grow in size and complexity. Demand for these materials has grown significantly in step with India’s wind energy expansion, which saw an additional 4.15 GW installed in 2024, raising the national total to 50 GW.
“This is a key step in our long-term strategy to support wind energy projects with localized production,” said Kari Loukola, Executive Vice President of Industrial Solutions at Exel Composites. “Manufacturing these components in India allows us to reduce lead times and better serve the regional market.” The Banda facility’s launch follows a €10 million order secured in 2024 from a South Asian customer, reflecting the region’s growing need for certified, locally manufactured components.
“Our customers have been waiting for this level of local production,” said Rohit Verlekar, Chief Operating Officer at KECI. “We’re now able to deliver IEC 61400-5 certified parts at volume, and our team is well-prepared to meet both technical demands and delivery schedules.”
Most of the plant’s output is dedicated to wind applications, including carbon fiber flats, joiners, and bolt connection fixtures. With full-scale production now active, KECI is positioned to play a larger role in strengthening India’s domestic wind power supply chain.
Kineco Exel Composites India (KECI) is a joint venture between Kineco Group, a leading Indian composites manufacturer, and Exel Composites, a global expert in pultruded composite solutions. Established to serve high-growth sectors such as wind energy, transportation, and industrial applications, KECI combines advanced manufacturing capabilities with deep materials expertise. The company specializes in the production of high-performance composite components—particularly carbon fiber profiles—using pultrusion technology. With a strong focus on quality, local supply, and technical reliability, KECI plays a key role in supporting India’s clean energy initiatives and contributes to strengthening the domestic composites supply chain.
