JSW Energy Ltd has announced the successful addition of 114 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity in September 2025. This includes 93 MW from wind power and 21 MW from solar installations. With this update, the company’s total installed capacity has risen to 13,211 MW.
For the second quarter of FY26, JSW Energy has added 443 MW of renewable capacity, which notably includes a 20 MW floating solar project at Vijayanagar. Renewable energy now accounts for 57% of the company’s overall generation capacity. This includes 3,709 MW from wind, 2,213 MW from solar, and 1,631 MW from hydro sources.
The company’s total secured generation portfolio now stands at 30.5 GW — comprised of 13.2 GW currently operational, 12.5 GW under construction (across both thermal and renewable projects), and 150 MW of hydro power under acquisition. In addition, JSW Energy has a development pipeline of 4.6 GW.
On the energy storage front, the company holds a committed storage capacity of 29.4 GWh, which includes 26.4 GWh from pumped hydro projects and 3.0 GWh from battery storage systems. The company is targeting 30 GW of power generation and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030, aligning with its broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
JSW Energy is a key player in India’s private power sector and is part of the $23 billion JSW Group, which operates across industries such as steel, energy, infrastructure, cement, and sports. Since beginning operations in 2000 with a 260 MW thermal plant in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, the company has expanded its footprint significantly. It now manages a diverse portfolio of assets in generation and transmission, with operations guided by strong governance, disciplined capital allocation, and a long-term sustainability vision. Currently, the company is executing power projects totaling 12.5 GW across various locations, reinforcing its ambition to become a 30 GW power producer by the end of the decade.
