TVS Motor Company today announced the successful completion of its acquisition of Engines Engineering SpA, and the formal launch of its Global Centre of Excellence for Design & Engineering in Bologna, Italy. The move marks a major strategic step in enhancing TVS’s global product development capabilities.
TVS Motor has acquired 100% ownership of Engines Engineering SpA, an Italian firm with strong credentials in automotive design, prototyping, and high-performance two-wheeler development. The transaction was executed under agreed terms, positioning Engines Engineering as a fully integrated arm of TVS’s R&D infrastructure. With the acquisition, TVS is inaugurating a Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bologna, intended as a concept-to-product innovation hub. The CoE will amalgamate Engines Engineering’s design & prototyping strengths with TVS’s broader research, development, and engineering resources to accelerate new mobility solutions.
Engines Engineering brings to TVS proven competencies in advanced prototyping, modular architecture, engine and vehicle testing, and motorcycle performance engineering, including involvement in MotoGP projects. The Bologna Centre of Excellence (CoE) will serve as a cornerstone for TVS Motor Company’s global product development strategy. The centre will focus on advancing design and engineering leadership through enhanced simulation, rapid prototyping, and modular design methodologies. By integrating these capabilities, TVS aims to accelerate product development cycles while maintaining the highest standards of precision, performance, and innovation.
A key focus area for the CoE will be future mobility technologies. The facility will drive innovation in electric powertrain systems, lightweight materials, and next-generation connected and digital vehicle architectures. These efforts align with TVS Motor’s commitment to developing cleaner, smarter, and more efficient mobility solutions that meet the evolving needs of global consumers.
The Bologna CoE will also act as a hub for global collaboration and talent development. TVS plans to work closely with universities, research institutes, technology partners, and component suppliers across Europe and beyond. This collaborative ecosystem will enable cross-disciplinary learning, foster innovation, and strengthen the company’s access to world-class engineering talent and advanced technologies.
Another major objective of the Bologna CoE is to support premium and performance brands, most notably Norton Motorcycles. Norton’s future product roadmap will benefit significantly from the advanced design, engineering, and prototyping expertise of the Bologna facility. This collaboration will enhance Norton’s global competitiveness by ensuring that upcoming models combine superior design, craftsmanship, and performance engineering.
The integration of Engines Engineering SpA into TVS Motor’s R&D framework is expected to reduce development timelines, enhance product differentiation, and expand the company’s premium and electric vehicle portfolio. The Bologna CoE will act as a central node in TVS’s global innovation network, reinforcing its ambition to lead in high-end, electric, and sustainable mobility segments. Work on new platforms, prototypes, and advanced design explorations is set to begin in the coming months in close collaboration with the Engines Engineering team.
Through this initiative, TVS Motor Company continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in two- and three-wheeler mobility. With operations spanning over 60 countries, the company remains committed to innovation, sustainability, and performance. The establishment of the Bologna CoE underscores TVS’s ongoing mission to expand its presence in electric mobility, elevate its premium offerings, and achieve engineering excellence on a global scale.
