Kashiv BioSciences has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Amneal Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: AMRX), marking a significant step toward building a fully integrated global biosimilars business. The transaction remains subject to shareholder approval, regulatory clearances, and customary closing conditions, with completion anticipated in the second half of 2026.
The proposed combination brings together Kashiv’s strong capabilities in biosimilar research, development, and manufacturing with Amneal’s established scale and commercialization expertise. Together, the companies aim to create an end-to-end platform capable of delivering high-quality, cost-effective biologic therapies to patients worldwide.
Kashiv BioSciences operates from its headquarters in New Jersey, with additional presence in the United States and India, while Amneal Pharmaceuticals is headquartered in Bridgewater, New Jersey and has built a diversified portfolio across generic, specialty, and biosimilar medicines.
Dr Sandeep Athalye, Chief Executive Officer of Kashiv BioSciences, stated that the combination aligns two complementary organizations at a pivotal moment for the biosimilars market, particularly in the United States. He noted that both companies share a focus on complex, high-quality medicines and that the transaction builds on a long-standing collaboration spanning more than a decade. He added that the combined entity will be well-positioned to accelerate product development and expand access to critical therapies.
Chirag Patel, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Amneal, highlighted the strong growth potential in the biosimilars segment as more biologic products lose exclusivity. He stated that the acquisition represents a strategic move to strengthen Amneal’s presence in this expanding market and advance its goal of becoming a leading diversified biopharmaceutical company.
Chintu Patel, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that the integration of Kashiv’s research and manufacturing strengths with Amneal’s commercial reach will create a differentiated platform capable of supporting a consistent pipeline of biosimilar launches. He added that the combined organization aims to improve patient access to affordable biologic medicines while delivering sustainable long-term growth.
Advisory support for the transaction includes J.P. Morgan as financial advisor to Kashiv, with legal counsel provided by Holland & Knight LLP and Dhinal Shah Associates. The acquisition is expected to strengthen both companies’ positions in the global biopharmaceutical landscape, particularly in the biosimilars segment, which continues to gain traction as healthcare systems seek cost-effective alternatives to branded biologic therapies.
