Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited, one of India’s leading paint manufacturers, has unveiled Sorakash, a specially curated shade card developed in collaboration with Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA). The initiative represents a unique partnership between two brands with strong Japanese heritage and reflects shared values such as craftsmanship, reliability, innovation, and technological excellence.
The name Sorakash combines Sora—the Japanese word for sky—and Akash, its Hindi counterpart. The collection features 85 colours drawn from the many moods of the sky, spanning tones of yellow, orange, blue, grey, white, and red. The palette brings together ANA’s aviation legacy and Kansai Nerolac’s expertise in colour development, offering shades that are both culturally meaningful and emotionally expressive. The concept also mirrors the deep cultural connections between India and Japan, including harmony with nature and respect for refined craftsmanship.
The collection responds to evolving consumer preferences, as homeowners increasingly seek distinctive, travel-inspired colours that reflect personal experiences and global exposure. Through Sorakash, Kansai Nerolac introduces elements of Japanese aesthetics into Indian living spaces through a thoughtfully designed Indo-Japanese collaboration.
Hirokazu Kotera, Executive Director, Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited, said the collection goes beyond colour to capture Japan’s attention to detail and reverence for nature. He noted that the partnership with ANA, known for its “Inspiration of JAPAN” philosophy, reinforces Kansai Nerolac’s Japanese roots while strengthening its differentiation in a competitive market.
Shigeru Ishimoto, General Manager, All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd., Mumbai Branch, said the collaboration reflects shared values of quality and innovation. He added that the partnership would enhance ANA’s brand presence in India while creating growth opportunities for both organizations.
As part of the launch, Kansai Nerolac is offering consumers a chance to win complimentary return flight tickets to Japan. The company expects strong interest in Sorakash, particularly through its NXTGEN painting services, where curated colour offerings play an important role in customer decisions.
Now in its 106th year, Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited is among India’s leading paint companies and a market leader in industrial coatings.
