Jyoti Structures Limited (JSL), an engineering, procurement and construction company focused on power transmission infrastructure, has completed and commissioned the 400 kV Gadag–II transmission line project for ReNew Power in Karnataka. The project consists of approximately 100 circuit kilometres of twin high-temperature low-sag (HTLS) transmission lines linking the Gadag and Koppal power stations. The infrastructure passes through parts of Gadag and Koppal districts and forms a critical component of the interstate transmission network supporting renewable power evacuation in the region.
Construction teams encountered several on-ground challenges during the execution of the project, including interior terrain conditions, right-of-way limitations and sections of black cotton soil that required specialised engineering solutions. Despite these constraints, the project was delivered and commissioned according to the planned schedule.
The transmission line has been developed as part of the infrastructure supporting the Koppal Solar Energy Zone, which has an estimated generation potential of about 1,500 megawatts. The project was implemented under a Build, Own, Operate and Maintain (BOOM) framework and is designed to facilitate the transfer of solar power from the renewable energy zone to the national grid.
Rajesh Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Jyoti Structures Limited, said the commissioning reflects the consistent effort of project teams working under demanding field conditions. He noted that the completion of the ReNew Power project follows closely after the successful energisation of another transmission project for Torrent Power earlier this year.
According to Mr Singh, the company continues to focus on strengthening transmission infrastructure that enables the integration of renewable energy into the national grid. Reliable transmission networks are essential for ensuring that electricity generated in renewable energy zones can reach consumption centres across the country.
As India expands its renewable energy capacity, transmission networks are increasingly important for maintaining grid stability and enabling efficient power evacuation from solar and wind generation clusters. Projects such as the Gadag–II line contribute to the development of infrastructure required to support the country’s clean energy targets.
Jyoti Structures Limited has executed power transmission projects in more than 50 countries since its establishment in 1974. The company provides turnkey services across the transmission value chain, including design and engineering, tower manufacturing, testing, project management and construction. In addition to overhead transmission projects, the company undertakes high-voltage underground cabling and optical fibre ground wire installations that support grid communication and monitoring systems.
