JSW MG Motor India Launches ‘MG Select’ for Better Access

Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mobility, JSW MG Motor India has achieved a major milestone by installing 1,000 community electric vehicle chargers across more than 470 locations nationwide. The achievement makes the company the first automotive manufacturer in India to establish EV community charging infrastructure at this scale.

The charging network has been deployed across residential communities, apartment complexes, educational campuses, healthcare facilities, hospitality destinations and industrial parks, helping strengthen India’s growing electric mobility ecosystem. The announcement coincides with World Environment Day and highlights the company’s broader efforts to promote cleaner transportation solutions. According to JSW MG Motor India, its electric vehicles have collectively travelled more than 290 crore kilometres on Indian roads, helping prevent approximately 4.17 lakh metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

The company also outlined plans to further expand its new energy vehicle portfolio during calendar year 2026 with the introduction of three new models, including vehicles powered by plug-in hybrid technology. The strategy reflects the company’s belief that multiple technology pathways will contribute to India’s transition toward sustainable mobility.

Beyond vehicle innovation, JSW MG Motor India continues to strengthen sustainability practices across its manufacturing operations. The company’s Halol facility in Gujarat currently meets nearly 95 percent of its energy requirements through renewable sources and utilizes more than 78 percent renewable power in overall operations.

These initiatives have enabled the facility to reduce carbon emissions significantly while supporting India’s broader climate goals. Water conservation efforts have also delivered notable results, with water consumption reduced by 23 percent through process improvements and extensive reuse of treated water.

The manufacturing plant operates a Zero External Discharge system that ensures all treated water is reused within the facility. Additional environmental initiatives include the use of cleaner fuels, extensive green cover development, waste-to-energy programs and advanced recycling systems.

The facility has earned recognition for its waste management practices, including certification under Zero Waste to Landfill standards. The site also incorporates Industry 4.0 technologies, leveraging digitalization and IoT-based systems to improve energy efficiency and operational sustainability.

As part of its environmental stewardship initiatives, the company has planted more than 11,000 trees, developed a large Miyawaki forest plantation, installed groundwater recharge wells and implemented biogas generation systems for organic waste management. With expanding charging infrastructure, a growing portfolio of electrified vehicles and sustainable manufacturing practices, JSW MG Motor India continues to strengthen its role in supporting India’s transition toward a cleaner and more energy-efficient transportation future.
