JSW Energy announced on Friday that its subsidiary, JSW Energy (Utkal) Ltd, has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with multiple electricity distribution companies in Karnataka for the supply of 400 megawatts of power. The agreement will take effect from April 1, 2026, and will remain in force for a period of 25 years. Power will be supplied at a tariff of ₹5.78 per unit, the company said in a statement.

Following the signing of the PPA, JSW Energy’s uncontracted capacity has reduced to approximately 5 percent of its current operational capacity, down from around 8 percent. The company noted that this enhances long-term revenue certainty and further reduces risk within its generation portfolio.

JSW Energy’s total committed generation capacity now stands at 30.5 GW. This includes 13.3 GW of operational assets, 12.4 GW currently under construction across thermal and renewable projects, 150 MW of hydro capacity under acquisition, and a development pipeline of 4.6 GW.

In addition, the company has secured 29.4 GWh of energy storage capacity, comprising 26.4 GWh from pumped hydro storage projects and 3.0 GWh from battery energy storage systems. JSW Energy reiterated its strategic targets of achieving 30 GW of power generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030, while progressing toward carbon neutrality by 2050.

JSW Energy is a key player in India’s private power sector and is part of the $23 billion JSW Group, which operates across industries such as steel, energy, infrastructure, cement, and sports. Since beginning operations in 2000 with a 260 MW thermal plant in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, the company has expanded its footprint significantly. It now manages a diverse portfolio of assets in generation and transmission, with operations guided by strong governance, disciplined capital allocation, and a long-term sustainability vision. Currently, the company is executing power projects totaling 12.5 GW across various locations, reinforcing its ambition to become a 30 GW power producer by the end of the decade.
