IZI, an Indian drone technology company developing consumer and industrial aerial platforms, has commissioned a dedicated manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh, marking a major step in its expansion strategy.

The new unit involves an initial investment of ₹50 crore and has been designed with infrastructure that allows for phased growth in the coming years. Core assembly lines are already operational, with a production capacity of up to 3,000 units per month. The facility supports IZI’s shift from primarily consumer-focused devices to high-performance drone platforms built in India for industrial applications and international markets.

During Phase 1, the plant is projected to produce 10,000 consumer drones and 1,000 industrial drones annually. Currently spread across 5,000 sq. ft., the facility has been developed through internal funding. Future expansion plans will align with central and state manufacturing incentive programmes.

The project is expected to generate 150–200 direct and indirect jobs in its first phase. As capacity increases in subsequent stages, employment numbers are anticipated to rise substantially. Recruitment efforts will focus on engineering, production operations, quality assurance, and product development roles based in Madhya Pradesh.

“This facility marks a significant milestone in our evolution—from assembling early-stage products to designing and manufacturing globally competitive drone platforms within India,” said Ishan Haydn, Founder of IZI. “Domestic production today is driven by speed, reliability, and quality as much as by cost. Madhya Pradesh provides a strong ecosystem to scale efficiently while supporting the country’s broader ambitions in drone manufacturing. As we expand into industrial and overseas markets, our priority is to deliver world-class platforms built in India.”

Looking ahead, IZI plans to transition to a larger manufacturing campus equipped for advanced testing capabilities, composite material integration, and expanded electronics production. This move is intended to enhance quality oversight, enable faster product iterations, and strengthen supply chain independence.

The facility has been structured to comply with regulatory and export standards from the outset, aligning with guidelines set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). While initial output will address domestic demand, exports to select global markets are planned to begin by mid-2026.

By progressively bringing critical manufacturing processes in-house, IZI aims to enhance cost efficiencies, safeguard intellectual property, and accelerate innovation—contributing to the growth of India’s drone manufacturing sector in line with national programmes such as Drone Shakti and emerging production-linked incentive frameworks for electronics and advanced manufacturing.
