Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has named Ira Bindra as the new Group President for People, Leadership, and Talent. Her appointment marks a significant step in transforming the oil-to-telecom giant’s approach to human resources and organizational development.
Bindra’s selection was personally announced by Ambani, a rare move as such appointments are typically communicated by functional heads. This highlights the strategic importance of her role in reshaping the people policies at Reliance.
Before joining Reliance, Bindra served as Vice President and Head of Human Resources for Global Regions at Medtronic, USA. Her career spans over two decades, including senior leadership roles at GE Capital, GE Healthcare, and GE Oil & Gas. She has extensive expertise across industries such as med-tech, financial services, and industrial operations, working in markets ranging from India and the United States to Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
In her new position, Bindra becomes the first non-family woman and the youngest member to join Reliance Industries Executive Committee. She will work closely with Mukesh Ambani, his children Isha, Akash, and Anant, and the entire leadership team to drive transformation in people management, culture, and leadership development across the company.
Bindra, an alumna of Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi, earned her MBA from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. Over her career, she has demonstrated expertise in HR strategy, talent development, and business transformation, successfully navigating complex global environments.
At Reliance, Bindra is tasked with partnering with business and HR leaders to elevate the company’s people practices to world-class standards. Her experience in blending business, data, and people strategies will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s future. Ambani expressed confidence in her ability to bring fresh perspectives and inspire teams across the organization, enabling Reliance to achieve new levels of success.
