INOX Air Products Private Limited (INOXAP), one of India’s leading producers of industrial, electronic and medical gases, has commissioned a 280 tonnes per day high-purity, fully automated cryogenic Air Separation Unit at Tata Steel Limited’s greenfield Electric Arc Furnace-based steel manufacturing facility in Ludhiana, Punjab.

The newly commissioned unit has been designed to provide a continuous on-site supply of gaseous oxygen, gaseous nitrogen and gaseous argon, all of which are essential for advanced steelmaking processes and the production of high-grade steel.

The project marks an important step in supporting Tata Steel’s modern manufacturing operations while also expanding INOXAP’s presence in northern India. In addition to supplying gases to the Ludhiana steel facility, the new plant will strengthen the company’s liquid gas distribution network across the region.

By utilising surplus capacity from the unit, INOXAP will be able to serve customers across northern states through tanker deliveries of oxygen, nitrogen and argon. This is expected to reduce supply lead times, improve availability, and support local industries with faster and more dependable access to industrial gases.

Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of INOX Air Products, said the commissioning of the 280 TPD cryogenic ASU is a significant milestone for the company and reflects its engineering strength as well as its commitment to supporting major industrial developments in India. He said the project will help ensure uninterrupted supply of high-purity gases for Tata Steel’s advanced Electric Arc Furnace facility, contributing to cleaner, smarter and more sustainable steel production.

He added that the unit also creates an important growth opportunity for INOXAP’s liquid gas business in northern India, allowing the company to expand its reach and support a wider industrial customer base across the region. He reaffirmed the company’s focus on building robust gas supply infrastructure that supports India’s manufacturing ambitions.

With this development, INOXAP further strengthens its standing as a trusted industrial gas partner for large-scale manufacturing projects, particularly in the steel sector. The company has built a strong reputation for delivering technology-led gas supply solutions that create long-term value for industries across India.

INOX Air Products currently operates from more than 54 locations across the country with manufacturing capacity exceeding 4,700 tonnes per day of liquid gases. The company serves over 3,000 customers ranging from small enterprises to large industrial groups across multiple sectors.

Established in 1963 in Pune as Industrial Oxygen Company Ltd, the business entered a joint venture with Air Products & Chemicals Inc, USA in 1999, creating INOX Air Products. The partnership remains one of the longest-standing Indo-American collaborations in India’s manufacturing sector.
