Infineon Technologies, a global name in power electronics and IoT, has formalized its lease agreement and begun construction on a new technology campus in Bengaluru. The development marks a key step in the company’s long-term investment in India’s semiconductor sector.

The new site, designed to accommodate up to 4,500 employees by 2030, will feature 170,000 square feet of advanced lab space. The facility will focus on developing semiconductor solutions aimed at supporting decarbonization and digital transformation. Full operations are expected to begin in late 2026.

“India offers a strong innovation landscape and a deep engineering talent pool,” said Vinay Shenoy, Managing Director, Infineon India. “With this expansion, we’re positioning ourselves to double our workforce in India over the next five years. The new campus is a critical piece of that strategy.”

The upcoming Infineon campus—named SILANE—will be based at Bagmane Solarium Tech Park in eastern Bengaluru. Once completed, it will consolidate the company’s local operations, currently spread across two separate locations, into a single 630,000-square-foot building.

“This move strengthens our ability to collaborate and grow,” said Ashok Rao, Senior Director of Finance, Infineon India. “The new site will bring together key teams and partners in one space designed to support innovation and efficiency.” The timing aligns with Infineon’s integration of Cypress Semiconductor, acquired five years ago, and reflects the company’s strategy to streamline operations.

The SILANE facility is being built with a strong focus on sustainability. It will run entirely on renewable energy and meet international standards for environmental performance, including LEED Gold and WELL certifications. The workspaces are designed for flexibility, collaboration, and efficient use of resources.

Located in a well-connected part of the city, the site offers access to two metro lines and future suburban rail links. The tech park also provides modern amenities such as a childcare center, fitness facilities, and a variety of food options—further enhancing the working environment.

Infineon Technologies AG is a global semiconductor manufacturer specializing in power systems and IoT products. With a global workforce of around 58,000 and 2024 revenues near €15 billion, the company is listed on both the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (IFX) and the U.S. OTCQX market (IFNNY).

India plays a key role in Infineon’s global R&D operations. With over 2,500 engineers and professionals, Infineon India contributes to chip design, software development, and customer support. The company currently operates across five locations in India and continues to scale up its presence in the region.
