Hyster Atlas Automated Lift Truck Wins Two Industry Awards

Hyster has announced two industry award wins for its Atlas™ automated lift truck portal, recognising the solution for its ease of use and contribution to material handling operations. The Hyster Atlas automated lift truck portal received a GOOD DESIGN Award in the robotics category and was named AGV Solution of the Year at the SupplyTech Breakthrough Awards. The awards highlight the system’s approach to making lift truck automation easier to introduce and manage in manufacturing and warehouse environments.

Launched in September 2025, Hyster Atlas is designed to allow businesses to implement automated lift trucks with limited technical expertise. The drag-and-drop portal allows users to create and modify automated routes without software engineering or coding skills.

Users can map their facility by manually operating the lift truck. As the truck moves through the facility, the system automatically creates waypoints along the route. These waypoints define the truck’s path and can later be moved or adjusted through the portal. The system is intended to simplify automation for operations that need to change routes as production requirements evolve. It also allows teams to make adjustments without relying heavily on specialist software support.

“With the demands placed on material handling operations, the last thing teams need is technology that’s complex and cumbersome to use,” said Noah Salmonson, Product Manager, Automation, Hyster. “The Hyster automated lift truck portal was created to amplify what teams can accomplish, not leave them buried in complicated software. These award wins recognise the simplicity of working within the Hyster Atlas portal and the value of that simplicity in meeting operational goals.”

The first Hyster Atlas automated lift truck is an automated tow tractor designed to work with different cart styles and workflows. An automated hitch and unhitch function helps reduce manual intervention during operations. The system also supports automated wireless charging. When charging is required, the truck can return to its charging station and dock without requiring an operator or supervisor to intervene.

Automation components are installed separately on standard lift trucks. This design allows updates and adjustments to the automation system without affecting other truck components and supports servicing through the company dealer network. Hyster Atlas also offers a rental model designed to reduce the upfront cost of automation. Customers can access the technology through a single monthly fee, allowing them to gain practical experience with automated material handling without making a large initial investment.
