Hybrid CNC Parts has expanded its advanced manufacturing operations through the addition of two new Phillips Additive Hybrid Laser-Wire systems, powered by Haas and Meltio technologies. This investment increases the company’s hybrid production capacity threefold, enhancing flexibility, throughput, and reliability for customers seeking precision metal additive and subtractive manufacturing from a single integrated source.
The expansion significantly strengthens Hybrid CNC Parts’ capabilities in high-performance industries such as aerospace, defense, and research and development, where demand continues to grow for rapid prototyping, component repair, and limited-volume production of complex metal parts. The new systems enable the use of challenging materials, including nickel-based superalloys, cobalt-chromium alloys (such as Inconel® and Stellite®), and advanced tool steels.
Dr Jesse Silverberg, founder of Hybrid CNC Parts, explained “Our journey with the Phillips Additive Hybrid began after discovering Meltio’s laser-wire technology. Once we saw it in operation, we knew it could meet our needs—producing strong, fully machinable metal parts without the complexity of powder-based systems. After more than two years of development and process optimization, we’re scaling up to meet accelerating customer demand.”
Operating as both a hybrid job shop and an engineering consultancy, Hybrid CNC Parts specializes in design-for-hybrid manufacturing—an approach that strategically integrates additive deposition and precision machining to optimize part performance, cost, and manufacturability. “Hybrid design demands a new engineering mindset,” Dr Silverberg added. “It’s not about printing entire parts; it’s about knowing when to build material up and when to machine it away. Our expertise lies in mastering that balance to deliver the best results possible.”
With the addition of the two new machines, Hybrid CNC Parts now operates three Phillips Additive Hybrid Laser-Wire Systems, incorporating Meltio’s infrared laser technology on two Haas VF-5 vertical machining centers and one Haas UMC-750. This expanded fleet improves production continuity, provides operational redundancy, and enables simultaneous manufacturing and R&D activities.
Phillips Corporation, a long-term partner to Hybrid CNC Parts, has supported the company from its first installation through this latest expansion, providing system integration, training, and ongoing technical collaboration. Dan Insogna, Regional Account Manager for Additive Manufacturing at Phillips Corporation, commented “Hybrid CNC Parts exemplifies what early adoption should look like. They didn’t just integrate the technology—they mastered it. Their success in combining additive and subtractive processes for high-value, small-lot production showcases the agility and innovation this technology was designed to deliver.”
Following this capacity expansion, Hybrid CNC Parts is inviting aerospace, defense, and industrial manufacturers to collaborate on pilot projects and prototyping initiatives. The company’s multidisciplinary expertise in design, process development, and materials engineering positions it as a strategic partner for organizations exploring hybrid manufacturing solutions.
“We’ve validated the technology and scaled our capacity,” Dr Silverberg said. “Now, we’re opening the doors for customers who want to see firsthand what hybrid manufacturing can achieve. We’re ready to help others realize the same performance and efficiency benefits that transformed our own operations.”
