Honeywell Technologies has expanded its flagship education and skilling initiative, Saksham, with the launch of its first future-ready STEM school transformation programme, aimed at equipping students with the skills required for a technology-driven future. The programme was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, at Shalimar Bagh Village Government Girls Senior Secondary School.
Under the initiative, Honeywell Technologies plans to transform 12 government and government-aided girls’ schools across India by 2029, directly benefiting more than 12,000 students. Nearly 5,000 students in Delhi are expected to benefit through interventions spanning STEM education, digital learning, teacher development and student well-being. The programme will also be implemented in Pune, Bengaluru and Gurugram.
Delivered in partnership with the Ladli Foundation Trust, the initiative combines upgraded educational infrastructure with experiential learning and teacher capacity building to create inclusive and future-ready learning environments for adolescent girls.
Addressing the inauguration, Rekha Gupta, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, said, “The transformation of Shalimar Bagh Village Government Girls Senior Secondary School into a modern learning institution is an important step towards strengthening public education. With smart classrooms, STEM and computer laboratories, and improved sanitation facilities supported through Honeywell Technologies’ Saksham initiative, the school now provides students with opportunities to develop the knowledge and skills needed for the future. Such collaborations between government and industry play an important role in strengthening education.”
Ashish Modi, President, India and Asia Pacific, Honeywell Technologies, said, “Preparing India’s future workforce begins with improving access to quality education and modern learning infrastructure. Through Saksham, we are creating opportunities for students to build strong foundations in science, technology and digital skills while supporting teachers with modern instructional tools. Our objective is to help young learners become confident, future-ready professionals.”
The Shalimar Bagh intervention includes advanced STEM laboratories, digital ICT and computer labs, smart classrooms, upgraded sanitation and WASH infrastructure, and awareness programmes covering menstrual hygiene, nutrition, cyber safety, financial literacy and reproductive health. Sixty teachers will also receive training in digital teaching methodologies to enhance classroom outcomes.
As part of the programme, five students from participating schools will be selected to attend an immersive Space Science workshop at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, providing international exposure to advanced science and innovation.
Implemented through the Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation, Saksham seeks to bridge gaps in digital access and STEM education by combining infrastructure development with experiential learning. With further expansion planned across additional government schools, the initiative aims to strengthen educational equity while preparing students with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to succeed in India’s rapidly evolving technology and innovation ecosystem.
