Swiss precision engineering company Feintool has inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India with the opening of a new production site in Pune, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion strategy. The facility has commenced production and is ramping up operations to meet initial customer orders, with a primary focus on manufacturing fineblanked components for the automotive industry.
The new plant strengthens Feintool’s presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets and supports the increasing demand from global vehicle manufacturers seeking reliable local suppliers. The investment also reflects the company’s commitment to manufacturing closer to its customers while strengthening its footprint in India.
Speaking at the inauguration, Feintool Chief Executive Officer Lars Reich said the Pune facility represents an important milestone in the company’s global growth strategy. He noted that several of Feintool’s customers are expanding their manufacturing operations in India, creating strong demand for locally produced precision components. He added that the company is well positioned to benefit from the continued growth of India’s automotive sector while exploring new opportunities across the country’s expanding industrial manufacturing landscape.
The Pune facility will initially manufacture fineblanked parts used in automotive seating systems. The plant has also been designed for future expansion into additional technologies, including cold forming, electric motor core production and hydrogen-related applications, enabling Feintool to support the evolving requirements of the automotive and clean energy sectors.
Marcel Pernici, President of Feintool Asia, said the company continues to follow its “local-for-local” manufacturing strategy by producing components close to customer operations while leveraging its global engineering expertise. According to him, the approach enables faster response to customer requirements, improves supply chain resilience and ensures consistent product quality across markets.
India has emerged as the world’s third-largest automotive market and is becoming an important manufacturing and export hub for global vehicle manufacturers. The country’s growing industrial base, favourable policy environment and expanding supply chain ecosystem have created new opportunities for advanced engineering companies to establish local production capabilities.
Tobias Gries, Managing Director, India, said Feintool has built a strong local team to support its long-term plans in the country. He stated that the company has begun production of fineblanked automotive components and is prepared to expand manufacturing capacity as customer demand grows. The facility has been designed to accommodate future technologies and additional product lines, ensuring flexibility for long-term growth.
