HMC E-Valley Pvt Ltd (HIVE), the advanced e-mobility manufacturing ecosystem of Hero Motors Company, has entered into a strategic partnership with KPIT Technologies Limited, a global mobility technology specialist, to accelerate innovation in the Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) segment. The collaboration has been formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding to set up an Independent Centre of Excellence in the Delhi-NCR region, focused on providing comprehensive design and engineering services for global micromobility and L-category electric vehicle OEMs, including e-bicycles.
As cities expand and the demand for sustainable transportation intensifies, micromobility solutions are gaining importance as practical, low-emission options for first- and last-mile travel. With a significant share of daily urban journeys taking place over short distances, light electric vehicles are expected to play a critical role in reshaping urban mobility. By combining KPIT’s deep capabilities in software-led mobility solutions with HIVE’s established strengths in light EV manufacturing, the partnership aims to deliver scalable, technology-driven platforms that address the evolving needs of global urban transport systems.
The Centre of Excellence will serve as a hub for end-to-end product development, enabling faster innovation cycles and high-quality execution for customers worldwide. HIVE will bring its expertise in customer engagement, business development, rapid prototyping, and manufacturing enablement, while KPIT will lead engineering delivery, solution architecture, program management, detailed design, and software and systems integration. Together, the two organisations will create a tightly integrated framework that spans concept development through industrialisation.
Commenting on the collaboration, Pankaj M Munjal, Chairman of Hero Motors Company, said the light electric mobility segment is at a defining stage, where the convergence of advanced hardware and intelligent software is essential. He noted that the partnership reflects HIVE’s commitment to building globally competitive micromobility solutions that are sustainable, reliable, and future-ready.
Kishor Patil, CEO and Managing Director of KPIT Technologies, said that the future of mobility, including micromobility, will be shaped by software-driven intelligence and seamless system integration. He added that KPIT’s mobility-focused engineering and AI-led platforms, combined with HIVE’s manufacturing scale and supply chain strengths, will help accelerate the development of safe, cost-effective, and high-performance LEV solutions for global markets.
