Hisense, a global leader in consumer electronics and home appliances, has inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The plant has been established through a joint venture with Epack Manufacturing Technologies Private Limited (EMTPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Epack Durable Limited (EDL). This milestone marks a significant step in Hisense’s long-term growth strategy in India and reinforces its commitment to the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.

Located within EDL’s industrial park at Sri City, the newly commissioned Hisense (EMTPL) facility spans a 10-acre campus and stands adjacent to EDL’s existing ODM manufacturing plant. Developed with an investment exceeding USD 30 million, the facility represents a major advancement in the company’s localization efforts and supply chain integration. Commercial production is scheduled to begin in February 2026.

In its first phase of operations, the plant will exclusively manufacture Room Air Conditioners (RACs) for Hisense India, accounting for 100 percent of the brand’s RAC production in the country. The initial installed capacity under Phase 1 is 0.75 million units annually. The product lineup will include Hisense’s flagship and global AC portfolio such as the F-Series, Eco Series, Intelli Perla Series, and the upcoming Intelli Pro Series.

The facility is being developed in a phased manner to expand manufacturing capabilities over the next two years. Phase 2, scheduled to commence in Q2 FY27, will introduce washing machine production across both top-load and front-load categories. Phase 3, planned for Q3 FY27, will further extend operations to include LED television manufacturing. This structured expansion underscores Hisense’s intent to build a comprehensive manufacturing ecosystem in India.

The Sri City facility currently employs approximately 500 professionals and is expected to create employment opportunities for nearly 1,500 individuals over the next 12 to 24 months. Recruitment is actively underway across supply chain management, finance, administration, technical operations, and skilled manufacturing roles.

The plant will cater to both domestic and export markets, enabling faster market responsiveness, improved distribution efficiency, and reduced reliance on imports. By strengthening local production, Hisense aims to enhance cost efficiencies and support competitive pricing in India’s rapidly expanding consumer durables sector.

Commenting on the inauguration, Pankaj Rana, CEO of Hisense India, stated that the new facility marks a transformative chapter in the company’s India journey. He emphasized that the Sri City plant strengthens local manufacturing capabilities while enabling greater control over quality, costs, and supply chains. The facility also provides a strong platform for scaling operations and tailoring products to the specific needs of Indian consumers.

Ajay Singhania, Managing Director and CEO of Epack Durable, expressed pride in partnering with Hisense for its first manufacturing venture in India. He noted that the collaboration brings together Hisense’s global technology strengths and Epack Durable’s manufacturing expertise, adhering to international standards while showcasing India’s production capabilities on a global stage.

Prior to this investment, Hisense India operated primarily through an import-led and partner-supported manufacturing model. The Sri City facility marks a strategic transition toward a fully integrated local manufacturing presence, laying a solid foundation for future growth aligned with market demand and long-term business objectives.

Hisense India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hisense Group, a global leader in consumer electronics and home appliances with operations in over 160 countries.
