To mark World Mental Health Day, Hindustan Zinc, India’s only integrated zinc and silver producer and the global leader in zinc production, launched a company-wide wellness movement titled #WeHearTheQuiet. This internal campaign aims to strengthen emotional well-being, encourage open conversations, and promote psychological safety at work — impacting more than 3,500 employees across its operations.
In today’s high-speed work environment, the campaign urges individuals to pause, observe, and acknowledge even the faintest signs of emotional distress — often expressed in quiet ways. By nurturing a more caring and responsive workplace culture, Hindustan Zinc continues to prioritize the holistic health of its workforce.
Ahead of October 10, the company shared a three-part teaser series across its digital channels — short, reflective clips meant to prompt viewers to think about how silence often masks internal battles. These led up to the release of the campaign’s centerpiece film, which delivers a powerful message: “When we notice the silence and respond, no one has to carry their burden alone.”
The heart of #WeHearTheQuiet lies in its recognition that emotional cues — a hesitant pause, a quiet sigh, or a muted “I’m fine” — deserve attention. The campaign is designed to keep this awareness alive throughout October, encouraging employees, teams, and communities to engage with mental health more openly, compassionately, and consistently.
As part of its broader employee well-being strategy, and aligned with the International Council on Mining & Metals (ICMM)’s expectations, Hindustan Zinc has introduced a range of hands-on wellness tools. These include personalized health tracking charts, healing sound sessions using sound bowls, access to virtual counseling, and a “digital detox hour” — a dedicated time for staff to unplug, unwind, and reset, often accompanied by a stroll or coffee with colleagues.
Commenting on the campaign, Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said “At Hindustan Zinc, our definition of safety includes the mind and heart, not just the body. #WeHearTheQuiet reflects our belief that empathy is a form of strength. It encourages every employee to listen deeply — to themselves and to others — and reminds us that real care starts with paying attention.”
Over the past three years, the company has been steadily strengthening its workplace wellness ecosystem, introducing programs like Employee Assistance, mental health leaves, adoption and parenthood policies, flexible hours, and a ‘no-questions-asked’ leave policy — all designed to support employees across every life stage and circumstance.
These efforts have earned Hindustan Zinc notable recognition, including Great Place to Work® certification, and position the company as a leader in building people-first workplaces grounded in inclusion, empathy, and trust.
By choosing to “hear the quiet,” Hindustan Zinc reaffirms its commitment to creating a workplace where every voice — even the silent ones — is valued and supported.
