Hindustan Zinc Limited, India’s sole integrated zinc producer and one of the top global silver producers, is celebrating World Quality Month under the theme “Think Differently.” This theme reflects the company’s ongoing focus on innovation, data-driven improvement, and excellence across all operational processes.
Adding to these efforts, the company’s product—Zinc Base Alloy Ingots for Die Casting, Grade Zn Al 4—has received BIS approval to bear the Standard Mark in accordance with IS 713:198. This achievement reinforces the product’s market trust, compliance standing, and alignment with high-assurance global benchmarks.
A key feature of this year’s Quality Month is the introduction of the Agile Quality Circle, an upgraded model that replaces the traditional 12-step framework. The new approach empowers teams to select the most suitable quality tools for specific challenges, helping to deepen ownership, speed up problem-solving, and leverage diverse skill sets across the organisation.
The Agile Quality Circle seamlessly integrates with the company’s quality framework built on seven pillars: Supplier Quality Management, Customer Management, Integrated Quality Management, Continuous Improvement, Leadership Participation, Skill Development, and Results Mapping. Supporting this structure is Hindustan Zinc’s fully digital Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), which ensures transparency, traceability, and precision across quality workflows.
CEO Arun Misra reflected on the initiative “Quality at Hindustan Zinc is grounded in curiosity and continuous improvement. With the theme ‘Think Differently’ and the Agile Quality Circle, we’re inspiring our teams to challenge conventional thinking. Our new BIS certification further validates the robustness of our quality systems and our ability to deliver world-class products.”
