Hero MotoCorp has unveiled its first Flex Fuel motorcycles, introducing Flex Fuel-ready versions of the Splendor+ and HF Deluxe. The launch marks the arrival of India’s first motorcycles in the 100cc commuter segment capable of operating on ethanol-blended fuels ranging from E20 to E85, supporting the country’s broader transition toward alternative fuel transportation.

The motorcycles were introduced in New Delhi ahead of World Environment Day in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, and Hero MotoCorp Chief Executive Officer Harshavardhan Chitale.

Designed for daily commuting requirements, the new motorcycles retain the performance, affordability, and ease of maintenance associated with the company’s popular commuter portfolio while offering compatibility with higher ethanol fuel blends. The technology is expected to contribute to lower fossil fuel consumption and support national efforts to reduce transportation-related emissions.

Flex Fuel technology allows engines to operate on varying concentrations of ethanol-blended fuel without requiring modifications by the rider. Ethanol, produced primarily from agricultural feedstocks, is increasingly being promoted as a renewable fuel alternative that can help reduce dependence on imported crude oil while creating additional opportunities for the domestic agricultural sector.

Speaking at the launch, Nitin Gadkari said the introduction of Flex Fuel motorcycles in the mass-market segment represents an important step toward expanding the adoption of cleaner mobility solutions in India. He noted that alternative fuel technologies can contribute to both environmental sustainability and energy security by reducing reliance on conventional fossil fuels.

The launch aligns with India’s strategy to increase ethanol blending across the transportation sector and diversify its energy mix. By introducing Flex Fuel technology in high-volume commuter motorcycles, Hero MotoCorp aims to make alternative fuel mobility accessible to a broader section of consumers.

Harshavardhan Chitale stated that the development reflects the company’s focus on creating practical mobility solutions that respond to evolving environmental and energy requirements while meeting everyday transportation needs. He added that the introduction of the new motorcycles demonstrates the potential for innovation in the commuter vehicle segment without compromising affordability or usability.
