Heritage Foods Limited has inaugurated a new greenfield ice cream manufacturing facility in Shamirpet near Hyderabad, Telangana. The new plant forms part of the company’s strategy to expand its value-added dairy portfolio and meet increasing consumer demand for premium ice cream products.

The facility is equipped with automated production systems and advanced quality control infrastructure designed to ensure consistent product standards and efficient large-scale manufacturing. The plant has an installed production capacity of approximately 24 million litres of ice cream per year, with provisions that allow further expansion as demand continues to grow.

Heritage Foods’ ice cream business currently generates annual revenues of about ₹100 crore. With the commissioning of the Shamirpet plant, the company expects to significantly expand its operations in the category and increase production capacity to as much as five times the current level over the next seven to eight years.

The new facility is expected to support several strategic objectives for the company. One of the primary goals is strengthening the company’s presence in the high-margin value-added dairy segment, particularly in ice cream and dessert products. Consumer demand for these products has grown steadily across urban and semi-urban markets in India.

The expansion also strengthens Heritage Foods’ manufacturing network, enabling the company to meet rising demand across southern and western regions of the country. The plant includes modern production lines, automated filling and packaging systems and comprehensive quality assurance processes to support scalable operations and maintain consistent product quality.

In addition, the new facility is expected to improve distribution efficiency by supporting the company’s expanding logistics network. Faster supply and improved service capabilities will help ensure better product availability across key markets.

India’s ice cream sector has been experiencing sustained growth driven by several structural factors, including increasing disposable incomes, premiumisation trends in food consumption and the rising popularity of packaged dairy products. Heritage Foods expects the new manufacturing facility to position the company to benefit from these long-term market trends.

N Bhuvaneswari, Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of Heritage Foods Limited, said the commissioning of the Shamirpet plant marks an important milestone in the company’s expansion plans. She noted that the facility will enable the company to increase production capacity, introduce new product innovations and strengthen its presence in important markets while maintaining the quality standards associated with the Heritage brand.
