The Government of Gujarat and Automation Anywhere have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand artificial intelligence skills and knowledge across the state, with a focus on government, education, startups and industry. The partnership aims to help students, public servants, entrepreneurs and professionals develop practical AI capabilities while strengthening institutional understanding of how AI can be adopted and governed responsibly.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly important in public services, business operations and the workplace, the initiative seeks to bring government, academia and industry together to prepare Gujarat’s workforce for an AI-driven economy. Under the agreement, the parties will work on training programmes, workshops, bootcamps and certification-oriented learning initiatives. These programmes are expected to provide participants with practical exposure to AI and automation technologies and help create a stronger pool of skilled professionals across Gujarat. The partnership also places emphasis on AI governance and institutional capabilities. The organisations said AI adoption needs to be supported not only by technical skills but also by appropriate approaches to data, systems, workflows, security and governance.

Mihir Shukla, CEO and Co-founder of Automation Anywhere, said organisations are increasingly moving beyond AI experimentation and looking to use the technology to generate measurable business value. He said the partnership with Gujarat is designed to build the people, leadership capabilities and institutions required to support that transition.

The initiative builds on Automation Anywhere’s existing efforts to expand AI and automation skills in India. The company has worked with NxtWave to provide enterprise AI and automation training to more than 100,000 students. It has also supported AI Kiran’s objective of preparing one million people, particularly women and youth, for AI careers by 2030.

The Gujarat partnership will extend these efforts at the state level by bringing together different sections of the ecosystem. Government departments, educational institutions, startups and businesses will have opportunities to participate in learning and capability-building programmes.

Arjunbhai Modhwadia, Hon’ble Minister, Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, said the partnership reflects the state’s focus on investing in people and creating opportunities for students, professionals, startups and public servants. The initiative is intended to support Gujarat’s broader technology and innovation ambitions and help develop capabilities that can contribute to improved public services and economic growth.

The programme will operate under the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Harshbhai Sanghvi, with an emphasis on wider and responsible AI adoption. Automation Anywhere said the collaboration will also contribute to AI sovereignty by encouraging local capabilities and supporting institutions in understanding how AI technologies can be implemented and governed. The company has been working in automation for more than two decades and provides Agentic Process Automation solutions for IT teams, developers and business functions including finance, customer service, IT and human resources.
