Strengthening India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, Greenfuel Energy Solutions—part of Lumax Auto Technologies Limited (LATL)—has commissioned a state-of-the-art ferrule-less tube and fitting manufacturing line at its Manesar facility. The inauguration was carried out by the senior leadership team of Maruti Suzuki India.

Greenfuel has invested ₹25 crore in the initial phase of the project, with an additional ₹50 crore planned over the next four to five years. The newly operational line has the capacity to support approximately 100,000 vehicles, with production scaling up in phases based on customer approvals and market demand. This investment strengthens domestic manufacturing capabilities, creates skilled employment, and supports long-term industrial growth in line with national priorities.

By localising the production of ferrule-less tubes and fittings for CNG vehicles, Greenfuel brings globally established technology to India. The torque-tightened, mass-production-ready solution ensures consistent assembly, repeatable quality, enhanced safety, and cost advantages by eliminating import duties, logistics costs, and foreign exchange exposure.

Commenting on the development, Deepak Jain, Director, Lumax Auto Technologies Limited, said, “Localising this critical technology underscores our commitment to the Make in India vision. Establishing advanced manufacturing capabilities domestically accelerates technology transfer, strengthens supply chains, and enhances India’s position in high-value automotive manufacturing.”

The commissioning of this facility represents a major step in indigenising a technology that was previously entirely imported. It enhances India’s manufacturing ecosystem for automotive and alternate-fuel platforms while reducing dependence on global supply chains.

Anmol Jain, Managing Director, Lumax Auto Technologies Limited, added, “This initiative creates a strong foundation for scalable and sustainable growth. It improves operational efficiency, deepens partnerships with OEMs, and enables faster validation cycles, supporting India’s transition towards higher value-added manufacturing.” For OEMs and fleet operators, the Made-in-India solution offers lower total cost of ownership, quicker component availability, stable pricing, and assured supply continuity—critical enablers as adoption of alternate-fuel vehicles accelerates.

Akshay Kashyap, MD & CEO, Greenfuel Energy Solutions, said, “We are the first company in India to localise ferrule-less tubes and fittings along with the complete manufacturing technology. This indigenous solution simplifies installation, reduces labour costs, and enhances safety. We have already begun supplying to a leading OEM and are seeing strong interest from others.”

He further noted, “The technology has been successfully deployed in Europe for over seven years by a leading German automotive brand. Through our long-standing partnership with WEH Gas Tech, spanning nearly two decades, we have indigenised and optimised the technology for Indian conditions—combining global expertise with local engineering capability.” The new manufacturing line strengthens Greenfuel’s ability to meet OEM requirements with greater speed, consistency, and scalability, reflecting Lumax Auto Technologies’ disciplined expansion into high-value manufacturing aligned with long-term industry demand.

In 2024, Lumax Auto Technologies Limited acquired a 60% stake in Greenfuel Energy Solutions’ alternate fuels business for ₹153.09 crore. The business recorded revenues of ₹170 crore in H1, supported by an order book of approximately ₹200 crore, and is expected to deliver margin-accretive growth. This segment aligns with India’s focus on localisation and the adoption of alternate-fuel automotive technologies.
