GlobalFoundries Highlights Foundry Connect Initiative and Boosts Fabless Partnerships

Manufacturing-News

GlobalFoundries (GF) India hosted the latest edition of its flagship annual conference, GF India TeknIka 2025, showcasing its India Foundry Connect Program—an initiative designed to accelerate the path from chip design to manufacturing for India’s fabless semiconductor startups. Building on the success of its 2024 launch, the Foundry Connect Program continues to support emerging semiconductor companies by offering access to GF’s advanced Product Design Kits (PDKs), GlobalShuttle™ Multi Project Wafer (MPW) services, IP libraries, and engineering support. The program complements India’s Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, helping qualified startups move their silicon innovations more efficiently from concept to production.

“GlobalFoundries’ long-standing presence in India underscores our commitment to supporting the nation’s semiconductor ambitions,” said Jitendra Chaddah (JC), Managing Director and India Country Head, GF India. “Through the Foundry Connect Program, we’re equipping local startups and OEMs with the tools and manufacturing capabilities they need—covering everything from design kits to tapeout. With initiatives like the DLI scheme, we aim to bridge the gap between design and silicon, enabling India’s fabless ecosystem to bring products to market faster.”

To broaden the reach of TeknIka 2025, GF India partnered with the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and SEMI India, two leading industry organizations representing the electronics and semiconductor ecosystem. This collaboration aims to connect GF with a wider network of fabless startups, academic institutions, and industry professionals, fostering greater awareness and participation in the Foundry Connect Program.

“IESA and SEMI India continue to play a pivotal role in uniting stakeholders across the semiconductor value chain—from startups to global players—to drive meaningful innovation,” said Ashok Chandak, President of IESA and SEMI India. “We are proud to collaborate with GlobalFoundries India for TeknIka 2025 and the Foundry Connect Program. Together, we aim to strengthen India’s fabless ecosystem, accelerate design-to-silicon transitions, and advance India’s goal of becoming a global semiconductor hub.”

GF India TeknIka 2025 served as a platform to showcase GF’s technology roadmap, deepen engagement with academic and industrial partners, and strengthen collaboration with policymakers. The event reaffirmed GF India’s vision of building a strong and self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem, positioning India as a vital player in the global chip design and manufacturing landscape.
