Gentari, a provider of clean energy solutions, has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with AM Green Ammonia India Private Limited (AMG Ammonia) to supply 650 MW of round-the-clock (RTC), carbon-free energy to power AMG Ammonia’s new green ammonia facilities. The energy will be sourced from approximately 2400 MW of renewable capacity, including solar and wind, to be developed in India. Additionally, the project will incorporate 350 MW / 2100 MWh of energy storage to ensure a reliable and continuous supply of green power.

The renewable energy projects will be located in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, with plans to integrate advanced storage systems to meet the continuous energy needs of the ammonia plants throughout the year. This agreement positions Gentari at the forefront of developing future energy supply models based on sustainability, aligning with the Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RNFBO) framework. This initiative also opens opportunities for AMG Ammonia to meet growing international demand, particularly in Europe.

AMG Ammonia is advancing one of the largest green ammonia projects globally, aiming to reach 5 million tons per year by 2030, with a focus on supporting net-zero goals in India and OECD markets. This output will also contribute significantly to India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and Europe’s green hydrogen import objectives. The first phase of this project is located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, where AMG Ammonia recently made its Final Investment Decision.

Navjit Gill, Country Head for India at Gentari, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the potential to accelerate renewable energy development in India. Mahesh Kolli, Founder of Greenko Group & AM Green, also highlighted the shared commitment to contributing to India’s ambition of becoming a green energy exporter.

AMG Ammonia is a collaborative venture involving AM Green, Gentari, GIC, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). After securing the Final Investment Decision (FID) for its inaugural million-ton green ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, the company is now focused on expanding its green ammonia production across multiple sites in India. AMG Ammonia plans to reach a production capacity of 5 million tons per year (MTPA) by 2030, significantly contributing to the net-zero objectives in both India and OECD markets. This goal aligns with approximately 1 MTPA of green hydrogen, which will represent 20% of India’s green hydrogen production target under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and 10% of Europe’s green hydrogen import target by 2030.

Gentari is committed to providing actionable clean energy solutions that will help shape the future of energy. The company’s core focus is on three pillars: Renewable Energy, Hydrogen, and Green Mobility, offering an integrated suite of services designed to aid customers in their decarbonization efforts. Gentari’s mission is to be a leader in renewable energy development, large-scale hydrogen production, and green mobility solutions across Asia Pacific. The company aims to be the most trusted clean energy partner, driving significant change, fostering business connections, and enabling the transition to a net-zero future.
