Flomatic Valves has introduced the Sewair-Combo NXC, a next-generation compact combination air valve developed to improve the efficiency, reliability and safety of municipal and industrial wastewater pipeline systems. The new product is designed to provide effective air management while reducing maintenance requirements and supporting long-term pipeline performance.

The Sewair-Combo NXC integrates three essential air management functions into a single full-bore valve. It automatically releases large volumes of air during pipeline filling, admits air during pipeline draining or sudden flow interruptions to prevent damaging vacuum conditions, and continuously removes trapped air while the system remains under normal operating pressure.

The new valve has been designed in accordance with the American Water Works Association (AWWA) C512 standard, making it suitable for wastewater force mains with changing elevations and high points where air pockets frequently develop. Air accumulation inside wastewater pipelines can significantly reduce system efficiency by restricting water flow, increasing pumping energy requirements and creating pressure surges that can damage equipment. Vacuum conditions caused by sudden changes in flow can also lead to pipeline collapse, column separation and costly infrastructure failures. The Sewair-Combo NXC has been developed to address these challenges by maintaining proper air control throughout system operations.

Flomatic has engineered the valve using corrosion-resistant materials to ensure dependable performance in demanding wastewater environments. The valve body is manufactured from ductile iron with a durable powder fusion-bonded epoxy coating that provides long-term protection against corrosion. It also features a 316 stainless steel float along with stainless steel internal components to improve durability and operational reliability in aggressive sewage applications.

The valve incorporates a specially designed sloped, funnel-shaped lower body that helps minimise the accumulation of grease, sludge and debris. This design reduces the likelihood of blockages and lowers routine maintenance requirements, helping utilities improve operational efficiency and reduce service interruptions.

To simplify inspection and maintenance, the Sewair-Combo NXC includes two integrated cleanout and drain ports. These ports allow operators to carry out draining, testing, inspection and backflushing more efficiently, reducing maintenance time and improving system accessibility.

The valve is available in a 2-inch National Pipe Thread (NPT) configuration and is designed to operate across a pressure range of 3 PSI to 230 PSI. It can withstand operating temperatures of up to 140°F (60°C), making it suitable for a wide range of municipal and industrial wastewater applications.

With the launch of the Sewair-Combo NXC, Flomatic continues to expand its portfolio of advanced flow control solutions designed to improve infrastructure reliability and reduce operating costs. The new air valve provides wastewater utilities and industrial operators with an efficient solution for managing air movement within pipelines, helping protect critical assets, improve pumping efficiency and extend the service life of wastewater systems.
