Filatex India Limited, one of India’s leading integrated polyester filament yarn manufacturers, has reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of FY27, supported by steady business growth, improved profitability and continued progress on its strategic expansion and sustainability initiatives. For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, the company reported revenue from operations of ₹1,145.3 crore, registering a 16.22% quarter-on-quarter increase.

EBITDA stood at ₹77.92 crore, with an EBITDA margin of 6.80%, reflecting efficient operations and disciplined cost management. Profit after tax reached ₹49.14 crore, up 22.06% quarter-on-quarter, with a profit margin of 4.29%, highlighting the company’s consistent earnings performance despite a challenging business environment.

Filatex continued to make steady progress on several key growth projects that are expected to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and support its long-term strategy focused on sustainable and circular textile solutions. The company’s ₹300 crore textile-to-textile recycling project, with an annual capacity of 26,750 tonnes, is progressing well. While commissioning has been revised from September to October 2026 due to heavy rainfall and temporary labour shortages, the project’s overall scope and investment plans remain unchanged.

Construction of the ₹235 crore polyester filament yarn capacity expansion project is also progressing according to schedule. The brownfield expansion will add approximately 55,000 tonnes per annum, mainly in POY, FDY and DTY products, and is expected to be commissioned by September 2026. The additional capacity will strengthen the company’s product portfolio and improve its market competitiveness.

Filatex also continued its transition towards renewable energy by expanding the use of hybrid wind-solar and solar power. The company aims to increase the share of renewable energy in its total power consumption from around 26% to nearly 55%, with the renewable energy projects expected to become operational by November 2026.

During the quarter, Filatex strengthened its sustainability initiatives by signing Memorandums of Understanding with American & Efird Global LLC and Decathlon for trials of recycled polyester yarn in thread manufacturing and other applications. The company also stated that approvals from several other international brands are at advanced stages, reflecting growing confidence in its recycled yarn products.

The quarter witnessed temporary challenges across the polyester industry due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which led to higher crude oil prices and increased costs of key raw materials such as PTA and MEG. Rising freight and insurance costs also affected demand and industry utilisation during the early part of the quarter. However, market conditions improved from June as crude prices stabilised and supply chain disruptions eased.

The temporary removal of customs duties on PTA and MEG during the quarter also provided short-term relief from input cost pressures. In addition, planned domestic PTA capacity expansion in India is expected to reduce import dependence in the coming years. Filatex also believes that progress on the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement and lower tariffs on Indian textile exports to the United States will strengthen export opportunities over the long term.

Commenting on the results, Madhu Sudhan Bhageria, Chairman and Managing Director, said the company delivered a healthy performance despite market volatility, supported by stable volumes, disciplined operations and a strong integrated manufacturing model. He added that ongoing investments in capacity expansion, recycling and renewable energy, along with growing partnerships with global brands, position Filatex for sustainable long-term growth while strengthening its presence in the global textile industry.
