Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to support the growth of India’s gems and jewellery exports through improved access to secure, time-bound international logistics and global markets.

GJEPC plays a key role in promoting India’s gems and jewellery sector, which contributes nearly 6.8 percent of the country’s total merchandise exports and provides employment to millions across manufacturing, design, and trade. As global demand for Indian jewellery continues to grow, the Council is focused on strengthening exporter capabilities through reliable logistics and trade enablement.

Under the MoU, FedEx will work with GJEPC members to provide international shipping solutions tailored to the specific requirements of the gems and jewellery industry. These include time-definite delivery services, integrated customs clearance, end-to-end shipment visibility, and structured knowledge-sharing initiatives such as seminars, webinars, and exporter-focused sessions.

Nitin Navneet Tatiwala, Vice President – Marketing, Customer Experience and Air Network, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa, FedEx, said the future of export growth will depend on how efficiently products move from Indian sellers to global buyers. He noted that the partnership reflects FedEx’s long-term commitment to building reliable supply chains for Indian businesses.

GJEPC Chairman Kirit Bhansali said the collaboration will strengthen the logistics backbone for the sector, particularly for MSMEs and exporters exploring cross-border e-commerce. He added that access to dependable door-to-door shipping solutions and process clarity will help exporters reach international markets with greater confidence.

FedEx operates 36 weekly flights in and out of India from Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, connecting exporters to markets accounting for over 99 percent of global GDP. Its services are supported by digital and analytics capabilities, including the AI SATS integrated hub in Bengaluru, which enhances shipment visibility and network efficiency. The partnership brings together GJEPC’s industry leadership and FedEx’s global logistics expertise to improve international market access for Indian exporters and support sustained growth in the gems and jewellery trade.
