Ester & Loop Industries to Build Rs. 1,385 Crore rDMT/rMEG Plant

Loop Industries, a global clean-technology company advancing circular plastics solutions, has announced that its India joint venture with Ester Industries, Ester Loop Infinite Technologies Pvt Ltd (ELITe), has awarded the detailed engineering contract for its Infinite Loop™ India project to Toyo Engineering India Private Limited. Toyo Engineering India is a leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm with more than four decades of experience delivering complex industrial and petrochemical projects across India.

The appointment follows the successful completion of front-end engineering design (FEED) by Tata Consulting Engineers and represents the final engineering phase prior to construction. Under the contract, Toyo Engineering India will be responsible for detailed plant design, procurement engineering, and preparation of technical documentation to support construction execution.

The Infinite Loop™ India facility is being developed to meet growing demand from the packaging and textile sectors and is designed to produce 70,000 metric tonnes of recycled PET resin annually. The plant will deploy Loop’s proprietary technology to convert low- and no-value PET waste into virgin-quality resin suitable for food-grade packaging and textile applications. Construction is progressing as planned, with project completion targeted by the end of 2027.

The joint venture recently secured a multi-year offtake agreement with Nike, which will serve as the anchor customer for the facility. This agreement provides strong commercial visibility and underscores market confidence in the project’s technology and output quality.

Project capital expenditure remains below the previously announced budget of USD 176 million, including approximately USD 5 million in savings achieved through land acquisition. The project’s debt financing process, led by KPMG India, continues to advance positively, with multiple term sheets received from international lenders, reflecting strong interest and confidence in the project’s economics.

Adel Essaddam, Chief Operating Officer of Loop Industries, said the move into detailed engineering marks a critical milestone, following the completion of FEED, land acquisition, and customer commitments. Arvind Singhania, Chairman and CEO of Ester Industries, added that Toyo’s engineering expertise strengthens the project’s technical foundation and accelerates progress toward building a world-class chemical recycling facility in India.

Toyo Engineering India expressed its commitment to delivering a high-quality facility that supports sustainable growth and advances circular economy objectives at scale.
