The Compact EcoLyzers Utilize Proven Alkaline Electrolysis for the Production of green Hydrogen, featuring a Modular Design that Ensures Cost-Effective Production and Swift Delivery

Ecoclean has officially begun series production of its EcoLyzer systems. Designed for pressurized alkaline electrolysis, these modular systems assure to play an important role in meeting climate targets and driving the energy transition by producing green hydrogen on a megawatt scale. The move comes as a response to the increasing demand for efficient and decentralized methods of generating green hydrogen, a crucial component in achieving a sustainable future for various industries, mobility, and power supply.

SBS Ecoclean Group is one of the global leaders in the development, production, and marketing of advanced machinery, systems, and services for industrial part cleaning and surface treatment applications. Renowned for providing world-class solutions, the company assists global enterprises in manufacturing their products efficiently and sustainably with a focus on high quality.

Serving diverse industries such as automotive, medical, precision engineering, mechanical engineering, optics, power engineering, and aviation, SBS Ecoclean Group’s success is rooted in innovation, cutting-edge technology, sustainability, customer-centricity, diversity, and respect. With a presence in twelve locations across nine countries and a workforce of over 900 professionals, the Group remains committed to delivering excellence on a global scale.

After setting up an experimental platform for testing and validating electrolysis stacks, which have a diameter of up to 1,500 mm and a maximum output of 500 kW and completing the construction of a production-ready electrolysis demonstrator. Ecoclean provides alkaline electrolyzers for the sustainable production of green hydrogen. As a globally positioned system integrator, their offerings extend beyond the electrolyzer itself to include essential accessories, ranging from water treatment to gas compression. The EcoLyzer systems, ranging from 1 to 20 MW, have been developed after rough testing and validation processes, including the construction of a test bench for electrolysis stacks and a demonstrator ready for series production.

Supporting a proven technology developed over the last decade by the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW), these systems offer strong, low-maintenance electrolysis without relying on hard-to-find raw materials like precious metals or rare earths. The modular design of the EcoLyzer ensures flexibility and cost-effectiveness, allowing the creation of scalable solutions or turnkey systems. With a system pressure of up to 30 bars as standard, these electrolyzers provide high gas quality, offering a valid and efficient solution for various applications.

Ecoclean’s commitment to meeting diverse industry needs is clear in its expansion plans. Recognizing that not every application requires high gas pressure, the company is extending its product range to include atmospheric-pressure alkaline electrolyzers. This development is expected to bring additional cost benefits, particularly for applications demanding higher outputs. Furthermore, the company provides complete services such as water treatment, gas purification, and compression, tailoring solutions to individual client requirements.

The EcoLyzer’s scalability is revolutionary, offering adaptable solutions for on-site hydrogen production catering to the specific needs of industries, energy suppliers, and providers of climate-neutral energy systems. This flexibility positions EcoLyzer as an ideal solution for energy-intensive sectors like steel and chemical industries, providing them with the means to produce green hydrogen economically and on-site, ensuring a secure supply at competitive costs per kilogram of hydrogen.

In the mobility sector, be it on-road or off-road, passenger or cargo transport, hydrogen produced through alkaline electrolysis and green electricity emerges as a cost-effective alternative for decarbonization. With fast refueling and long ranges, the EcoLyzer solutions become particularly appealing for local authorities and haulage companies aiming to establish hydrogen filling stations.

Addressing the irregularity of renewable energy sources, EcoLyzer aids in stabilizing power supply by converting surplus electricity into easily storable hydrogen through electrolysis. This stored hydrogen can then be converted back into electricity during periods of low renewable energy production, contributing to grid stability. Opposite to criticisms regarding the efficiency of this process, it emerges as an important solution enabling the utilization of surplus green electricity.

Green hydrogen’s importance extends beyond industry and mobility to decentralized and climate-neutral electricity and heat supply for residential districts. By generating hydrogen through electrolysis using surplus electricity from photovoltaics, the EcoLyzer ensures a continuous power supply, even during periods of insufficient solar radiation. The resulting waste heat can be reused for heating buildings, offering an innovative approach to enhancing energy efficiency in residential areas.

As the global transition to renewable energy sources gains boost , the role of hydrogen production using green electricity becomes increasingly important. Ecoclean’s EcoLyzer for alkaline electrolysis emerges as a proven and globally available solution, offering reliability, performance, and cost efficiency in one package.
