Dürr Introduces RoDip Ezy, Advancing Flexibility in Rotational Dip Coating Technology

Dürr has unveiled RoDip Ezy, the latest evolution of its electric rotational dip coating technology, designed to enhance flexibility, simplify system architecture, and improve efficiency in automotive manufacturing processes. RoDip Ezy succeeds the earlier RoDip E platform while retaining the proven principles of rotational dip processing used in pretreatment and cathodic electrocoating.

The new system incorporates a comprehensive redesign of core components, including the trolley, rail infrastructure, energy transmission, and control systems. These upgrades result in a more compact setup that streamlines installation and maintenance while offering greater adaptability in plant design.

A defining feature of RoDip Ezy is its newly engineered rotating drive, which uses a compact cycloidal gearbox. This technology, widely deployed in Dürr’s industrial robotics, provides reliable and precise motion control. The system also introduces a standardized trolley design capable of accommodating a wide range of vehicle types, from passenger cars to light commercial vehicles.

One of the most significant advancements in RoDip Ezy is the introduction of curved routing. Unlike its predecessor, which relied on turntables for directional changes, the new system allows trolleys to move seamlessly along right-hand and left-hand curves. This eliminates the need for complex turntable mechanisms, reducing system complexity and enabling more versatile plant layouts.

The flexible routing capability supports multiple configuration options. Manufacturers can implement traditional dual-loop systems with separate trolleys for pretreatment and electrocoating, or opt for a single-loop design where the same trolleys handle both processes. The latter approach reduces the need for additional conveyor systems, rails, and equipment, contributing to lower infrastructure requirements.

RoDip Ezy is suitable for both new installations and modernization of existing facilities. Its ability to handle curves exceeding 180 degrees allows manufacturers to optimize layouts even in constrained spaces or where process steps are unevenly spaced.

The system also features a newly developed rail structure made from lightweight aluminum profiles. These standardized components, already used in other Dürr applications, simplify integration and accelerate assembly. Compared to traditional steel systems, they require less adjustment and reduce overall installation time.

Dürr’s rotational dip technology has been used to protect more than 100 million vehicles worldwide from corrosion, establishing it as a benchmark in the industry. With RoDip Ezy, the company expands its portfolio by offering a solution that combines operational efficiency with greater design flexibility. The new system complements the existing RoDip M platform, providing manufacturers with additional options to meet evolving production requirements while maintaining high standards of performance and durability.
